Last night I stopped at the store and got some cheapo dog booties. I just wanted to see if she could even get used to them. I started with giving her treats just for interacting with the booties but once she realized there were "OMG TREATS!" the booties were ignored.
So I put on on her. And she stood there, like her paw was a foreign thing. I waited for her to even touch her paw to the ground, which she did eventually and then she got a treat!
Then I waited for her to put her paw fully on the ground...PARTY!
We moved onto walking with just the one booty on until she was moving around almost normally with it on (the amazing thing was she didn't even try to pull it or knock it off!).
We did the same thing with adding one booty each time until she had all four on for a little while. LOTS of treats but she was walking almost normally before we decided she had had enough (and decided to torment her with reindeer antlers instead).
Last night I took her out with just the front two on to see how she did. And she did GREAT. It's like she forgot they were on once she was out in the snow. She even played with a neighbor's Doberman (Marky, an awesomely beautiful dog who I need to get pictures of).
This morning I put on all 4 and she was SO HAPPY outside. She was walking normally, leaping into snow banks, crossing roads without sad paws. I think I will DEFINITELY get some higher quality ones when the weather is better and I can get across town.
Thank you everyone for the suggestions!
