He came in a dream.

That night, when she could barely breathe, when every movement felt like torture, rest came in the form of a smiling boy. There was sadness in his eyes,

but he was smiling at her.

"Susan," he said. "I miss you."

"I miss you, too," she replied. "More than you know."

"Oh, I know it, lass," he said. "I do."

He took her hand and pulled her close. "That's why you are here when you should be at home, minding your life." He stroked her hair. "Here you are, trying to find a lost lad. One that everyone else has given up on."

She sniffled, and that gave way to sobs, each one stronger than the last. "I can't," she cried. "I can't give up on you, because you aren't dead!"

"Thank you, love," he said. "Thanks for caring so much. You coming all the way here with my best mate and his girl, it means so much."

He gently wiped her tears with the tips of his fingers. "You've done so much for me, Susan," he held her now by the shoulders. "And now I will do something for you."

He took her in his arms again and kissed her. She felt as if every moment she had with him flashed before her eyes. These mean everything to me. You mean everything to me.

Good night, Susan. I love you.

She woke with a start, disoriented. Where am I?

"Why, you're at St. Mungo's, dear. Recuperating," a woman said. Susan didn't realize she said her thoughts aloud. "Good thing you and your two friends were found just outside London at the right moment, or you would have been lost to us." The woman, which Susan figured as a mediwitch, went about the room, arranging a bunch of flowers with a flick of her wand.

"These came in just now," the mediwitch said, pointing to the blooms. "Don't they look happy?"

The mediwitch must've excused herself, but Susan never heard her, and she didn't even notice her leave. Susan sat on the bed, her eyes transfixed on the vase of daisies.

Deep inside, Susan knew, he saved them that night. And how much strength it took to bring them to where they were found, she wouldn't know, but she knew that whatever he did to save them took all the power he had left.

She refused to believe it, but she knew that Seamus had just said goodbye.
