Meh. A little pissed off this morning, after I'd worked fairly hard the last two nights to have the program ready for Monday, then got up early, only to have no contact from Darius. I called him twice, and both times he rejected the call. I suppose he was busy with something, but he could be polite enough to tell me that. Really don't appreciate just being ignored. So I suppose I'll have to try again tomorrow. Annoying, but I do want to get it over with - weeks keep dragging on more than they need to. I'm still getting paid fine for all the time I do work, so no problems there... but a couple of weeks have been wasted.
Went out for another beer (well, cider in my case) and caek with Graham. We were there quite late again; came home about 11:15, and had some tea and watched whatever was on television whilst I burned 'The God Delusion' onto CD for him. Shanna was on for a while afterwards, so we got to talk for a bit. She also proposed a date for the move, which is good news. We can't say it's the final date of course, but it seems a reasonable target to me, so I think we should try to meet it. It'll have to be decided for good fairly soon anyway, so we'll see if it's the same one. I hope so, it's close :-)
My hard disk (the second of the three) mangled itself for a little while today. I have no idea what happened, but suddenly it contained only one directory, instead of the 110GB of all my personal data for the last five years or so. Mm, I did panic. Running CHKDSK did seem to sort it out and I can now browse it again, but it reported loads of repair work being done, and I now have thirteen bad clusters marked. Tux knows what caused it... I wasn't really doing much with it at the time. I don't know if anything has gone missing; I had a quick look around, but there's no way I can remember everything that was there.
Last time I forgot to mention that I've finally got a power supply for my laptop. I had a lot of trouble obtaining it, though I'm not sure of the reason behind it. The company I ordered from kept telling me delivery of stock was being delayed, but they did so for two entire months. Eventually I lost patience with them and cancelled my order. I'd seen other places with similar prices whilst I was looking before, but didn't re-check before I cancelled. After I had, and I went to find one of those other places... I found that almost nowhere had stock of the item. Obviously the problem was quite widespread - perhaps Acer aren't even bothering to supply them anymore? So, the only places I could find one were official Acer suppliers, and a few places that had one or two left in stock. For this, I paid about double what the other sites had been offering it for. If only I'd chosen one of those initially, before they all ran out - I'd have paid an extra few pounds, but not an extra twenty-five pounds. At least I finally have it though.
Didn't help my balance. Just as I struggled out of my overdraft, I'm now back in it again, but at leat not by a lot. I've about -£240 in the bank, but I have £165 in my wallet, so my real balance is around -£75. One more payment from Darius, minus rent to my parents, will put me £5 in credit with no further risk of slipping back.
In other news though, Graham got a letter from Inland Revenue this morning fining us because we apparently didn't submit our partnership tax return. We thought we did, but we only filled in a partnership section on our own self-assesments - there was a separate form for just the partnership. The fact that this information isn't really made clear doesn't seem to matter to them very much - they want their money and we can't really argue with it. Bastards, lol.
Why does listening to Green Day remind me of Prattville? It's nothing to do with the title of the album, and in fact it seems to be a particular track - 'Are We The Waiting' - even though I hadn't heard it at the time. For some reason, it takes me right back to that hotel room, or sometimes walking the road between there and the shopping complex just down the road. I only got it because I saw Connor's album lying around, and thought I'd rip it and try it. It's not bad I supposed... quite good in places, but nowhere near enough to justify their popularity.
Suppose I'll try and get some sleep then, so I can try calling Darius again in the morning. Not that I should have to, but I'm sure it's up to me again. I only get calls when there's something wrong.
