These last few weeks have given me quite a lot to think about. I was terrified when I was a child... if it wasn't for so many of the kind people here, I would have spent the entire week hiding. I remembered a lot; about Espers, and magicite, and... how rare magic really is in my world. I still don't understand... my other memories tell me that in order to use magic, one needs the power of an Esper. So why was I always able to use it?
I was studied from the time I was a small child because I could always use magic. And the man in charge, Kefka... he was insane. Absolutely mad. every time I think of his face, of that laugh, I... *shudder*

Another ball is coming up, I hear. The last one was quite a lot of fun. It took a lot of convincing from Nina, but I really am happy that I went. I wonder how Balthier is doing, wherever he is.
It's interesting that those of us that attend will receive memories. I know that the memory regains seem to be tied to the island's magic and events, but a ball seems all to normal. And who is offering to give us those memories back, anyway? So many questions.
I've never heard of Tanabata before. Is there a story behind it?
