"Well hello indeed..." Crooned a raspy, nasal voice from the shadows. The figure that swung itself out of the shadows from the door leading into the hall was familiar, though for some reason there was more sway to the steps then normal. Even the voice sounded a little, off.

A clinking and a sloshing noise was heard and a rather under dressed and by the half full glass in his hand, drunk clown, held onto the doorway for support. His normal regalia in place from worn shoes to the tips of his green hair. But his face was shockingly bare, the scars standing out now as he pinkish warped lines that marked pale skinned cheeks. Unblackened greens eyes were fixed on Lex, narrowed and hazy from what must have been a copious amount of alcohol to put the clown prince in this state.

After a few moments he finally let go of the door frame and stumbled/walked in, cursing instead of giggling when he tripped over a chair leg and caught himself, saving he drink by mere inches.

"You know...I thought I'd end up drinking to Bats end. But, uh... ( ... )

Lex sometimes wondered if he was suffering under some kind of curse, one that allowed anyone who felt inclined to wander into his office unannounced. He squinted as the Joker staggered over to his desk, barely keeping his balance. Seeing the Joker drunk was nearly as bizarre as seeing him without makeup, and Lex couldn't help but stare. It was hard to believe that there was someone average and human underneath the layers of greasepaint.

"I'd ask how you got in here, but I'm not sure I want to know," Lex said, crossing his arms. "And you're the last person I'd expect to notice or care that Superman was gone."

"Well I'm usually the last person anyone would ask on the topic of caring. So no surprise there." He said with a little wave before he drained he rest of his glass and let it slip from his fingers. Rolling across the ground scattering ice over the wood as it went on it's merry way towards the windows.

The Joker planted a hand on Lex's desk, brow furrowing, nose wrinkling in a way that mimed one of the Joker's more familiar expressions, getting in Lex's face with his own.

"No, Legion celebration so I thought you'd a-pre-ciate the company."

Lex spared a glance at the fallen glass, but focused his attention back on the Joker quickly. A drunken Joker was probably just as dangerous as usual, maybe moreso. Lex wondered again why he hadn't just grabbed the gun from his desk.

"The Legion is temporarily disbanded," Lex said, tilting his head up a little to look the Joker in the eye. "I've got more important things to be doing than blowing up the moon now."

"Hmmm..." Joker pushed off and then pushed Lex in his chair. A sharp, suddenly aggressive motion from the clown as his voice gained more gravel and more disconcerting without the warpaint.

"I thought so!" He pushed again as he growled. "Turning good on us, Lex. Huh? Too good for us now that you lost you're precious nemesis slash fuck buddy? Hmmm?" He got in Lex's face again, but this time there was a promise of retribution if he answered wrong.

And the Joker was apparently not quite as drunk as Lex had assumed. Maybe not drunk at all. He certainly couldn't smell alcohol on his breath. Lex was pressed back against his chair, cursing himself for not grabbing the gun when he had the chance.

"This has nothing to do with you, clown!" Lex hissed, measuring the distance between himself and the drawer. "What I do with the Legion is my business! Now get the hell out of here before I call security."

It was a bluff, but Lex had a good poker face. Hopefully, the Joker would buy it.

"Oh please do!" He said with cheerful gusto, grabbing hold of Lex's chair to suddenly swing his chair and send it spinning away from the desk and that pesky little drawer. The Joker following soon after.

Combing back the green locks from his what once might have been handsome face. But his own smile was grotesquely exaggerated by the scars as he slammed his hands back down on the armrests to stop Lex's world from spinning.

"And we'll see just who runs out of weapons first. Bullets or knives." He got uncomfortably close to Lex, his mouth twitching before he licked at the scar that halved his bottom lip. "But personally, I hope I lose..." he said in a conspirative tone. "More fun when you're forced to get creative with your killing." And he laughed, wheezing and high within the billionaires' personal space.

Lex shook his head to clear his vision, leaning backwards as the Joker brought his face close.

"I don't know what you're doing here," Lex said, keeping his voice even, "but you can't possibly think you'll accomplish it by-"

Mid-sentence he shoved the Joker backwards, lunging out of the chair and towards the door to his office. He did not want to risk a protracted fight with the Joker, and that meant getting away, now.

Joker hit the floor with a resounding slap from his hands hitting the floor as Lex dashed for safety. The clown prince of crime kicked at the wheely chair and sent it hurtling after the retreating Lex. the chair crashing into the other man and knocking his feet out from under him in one loud smack of body against wood flooring.

Joker shot both arms up into the air and whistled sharply through his teeth in the ridiculous gesture of 'goal'. Rocking himself up to his feet, the mad man brushed his clothes off as he calmly walked towards Lex. "Now that's a home run, if I do say so myself." He muttered as he crouched by Lex and suddenly slammed his fist into the side of his fallen comrades face. Joker cracked his neck. "Now, about the Legion...I, uh...think you made quiet a few promises to your key members, didn't you?"

Lex's world was spinning, the combination of the impact with the floor and the Joker's fist making his vision do loops. He spat out a mouthful of blood and glared up the Joker, trying to gauge the best way to escape.

"If you can't get Batman yourself, that's not my problem," he sneered. "What do you want me to do, deliver him to your doorstep wrapped in a shiny red bow?"

Joker's brow furrowed as he seemed to think deeply about this before nodding. The grin nearly splitting his cheeks open. "Not a bad idea, actually. What do I have to pay in shipping though. That's the bitch of modern delivery these days."

As much as Lex wanted to punch Bruce in the head sometimes (well, most of the time. All of the time, really) he couldn't just turn him over to the Joker. With Clark gone, Bruce was one of the last links he had to his past, to a life before the one he was living now. That alone meant Bruce had to stay alive, bat-themed deathwish or not.

"No deal," he said to the Joker. "You can get Batman yourself. I have bigger things to worry about."

"Oh, is that so ?" The Joker purred dangerously.

A shink of metal was suddenly heard as Joker slammed one of Lex's wrist down against the floor and rammed a knife right through the palm, pinning it to the floor.

"Too busy trying to save the dead boyfriend, hmm?" The mad man asked conversationally as he almost carelessly twisted the blade a little.

"Well I uh...hate to be the bearer of bad news, Lexy. But you made a deal with me. And I thought people like you knew better then to back out of deals with the devil."

Lex screamed, arching up as the knife went deeper into his hand. He kicked out, but his aim was badly off and the Joker dodged out of the way easily.

It was probably not the worst pain he had experienced, but he was having trouble at the moment remembering what had been worse. He panted, teeth gritted, before spitting at the Joker, "You really think killing me is going to change things, clown?"

Joker blinked mockingly and reached up to wipe the spittle from his cheek and shake it off his fingers with disgust before changing his mind and wiping it on his Lex's shirt instead.

"Now, now. Why would I kill you, Lexxy?" Joker asked with a tilt of his head. "You're too easy to put pins in. And everyone loves a voodoo doll. Though I do tend to forgo the doll and get straight to the root of the situation."

He twisted the knife a little more, slowly creating a perfect hole in the billionaires hand as he went on.

"But really, I'm just enjoying what has changed." He said with a smirk and put a hand up to cup his ear. "You hear that?" He asked, giving the appropriate amount of pause to take in he silence surrounding them besides Lex's heavy breathing before the Joker smile maliciously.

"That's no one coming to your rescue anymore. No one to burst through the stone walls and save the poor little rich boy." He bent down and tugged Lex up by his shirt, his pinned hand jerking him to a stop as Joker planted a sloppy kiss on his cheek ( ... )

Lex was on the Joker in an instant, grabbing the lapels of his coat and shoving him backwards. The pain from his injured hand felt like nothing compared to the sheer rage he felt.

"You don't get to talk about him!" he snarled, baring his teeth as they hit the floor with a loud thud. "You hear me?!" He shook the Joker, not caring that now would be a good time to run, or go for the gun, or anything besides what he was doing. He was seeing red again, and it was blotting out everything.
