What is the thing you most regret NOT saying?

Well, there's the obvious things. But they go without saying.

There's one that was the first thing I thought of when I read that question though. I didn't tell Jane off the second I saw her in one of those housewife dresses. Too tight, too drab, too everything. It drove me out of my mind. The second I saw it, I should have said something among other things.

I don't know what I would have said, but it should have been something. The less lies we had in our marriage, the better it probably would have been. I say probably because if I had in fact told Jane exactly what I was thinking the first time I saw that dress, she very likely would have broke out the sharp objects, regardless of her cover.

But I still think having that level of honesty somewhere could have been good for us. I'm not proud of some of the things I wore, but at least I was remotely comfortable when I was looking my part. There's no way she could have liked those dresses.

That was the first thing I thought of. I should have said something about the dresses.

... And the curtains.

Definitely. The curtains.
