That said, eeeeeeugh. How, and I repeat, HOW could ANYONE say that Edward and Bella's relationship is the PERFECT LOOOOOOVE? No, seriously. I wish someone could explain it to me. I don't even want to mention S/m relationships because those? THOSE have rules. That kind of relationship, when it follows the rules and everything? They ARE healthy.
Edward and Bella's relationship STINKS of abuse. I'm sorry, if you liked it and you're still reading this, but it DOES. Edward is a control freak, chauvinistic, violent with anger management issues. And Bella? IS AN IDIOT. I lost times of how many times she said 'oh, this is stupid I'm making a mistake and I DON'T CARE'.
But Nina, you must be thinking. You like Wuthering Heights! How can you say something about abusing, obsessive relationships after liking that?
I can say that, because I have NEVER EVER said that Catherine and Heathcliff's relationship was a healthy one. Neither does the book: and it doesn't spend four hundred pages trying to justify that their childishness, their obsession and violence is okay because 'it's true love'.
What kind of healthy relationship is compared as an addiction? Not just that, but Edward saying to Bella 'you're like my heroin'? I MEAN WHAT. Just no.
The one good thing I will say about Twilight is that it gave me an ego-boost: if that got published, I, too, CAN get published.
