So as the president of No U-Turn, I was setting up an arranging workshop for new members to learn how to arrange music so that we can sing it. Seems easy, right? WRONG. I've had to reschedule this dang thing so many times I can't stand it. But that's not the part I'm frustrated about.
The workshop was finally finalized for tonight, from 7-10pm. Mark Suprenant, our consultant from last year who started the group, is the person who was going to run it and do the teaching. As some of you know, Mark is a five-faced (yes, five-faces...not two-faced) person who tells different people different things and in the end screws everyone over. I should have known.
The minimum number of people need to have the workshop in the first place is 4. We had four people so we were barely scraping by. However, I had an agreement with Mark that if only three people could do it, that they would each pay more to cover the cost of the fourth person. As luck would have it, one of our people is unable to attend the workshop tonight under short notice, so she was to call everyone and inform them that they would have to pay more money. She also called Mark and left a message telling him the situation (including the fact that everyone would pay more so he wouldn't be out any money) Lo and behold I get an email from Mark this morning saying: "One of your members isn't able to come, so I picked up another shift at the Chophouse [his side job]. I'll leave it up to you to let everyone know that tonight's workshop is canceled."
WHAT THE HECK!!!!!! I just don't understand what happened, why he cancelled the workshop, why he thinks it's okay to just go and pick up another shift at the Chophouse (meaning it is now completely impossible to have the workshop tonight, even if the members did pay more money), and why I ever thought I could trust him in the first place.
In short, we are now left with no way of teaching our new members how to arrange, plus no way to get them the software they need to do the arranging.
I'm sure it will all work out and I know that God has a plan, but sometimes I just wonder how people can be so stupid, selfish, and unaware of how their actions affect others.
Okay, I'm done raving...although I do feel better. This journal thing is a good way to blow off some steam. Maybe I'll write again later about something good to lighten things up.
PS: If you ever come in contact with a Mark Suprenant...take my warning and STAY AWAY!
