Settling into school is taking a little longer than expected. Not only are my courses a little more work intensive than I thought they'd be (except for Arabic, I wonder why ;) ) but there's been a lot of study abroad paper work to run around for. All I have to do now is get the hypothetical Arabic and Econ classes approved, and I should be all set, Inshallah.
It's also hard trying to coordinate with my friends. My core group of 3 is now split into two separate poles, one across the river, and the other in my old dorm. It's ok, it's just wierd not being able to get home from class, flop down on the floor in their room and do homework or chat.
Fencing is going well, a kid from the FHS team came to BU this year, so that should be interesting. I'm captain again, and they asked me to be president next year. We'll see about that.
My room is beautiful. I'll post pictures later, but it's huge, and you can really get the whole Boston Brahman feel from the building. Oh the luxuriant splendor!
I'd have to say my favorite class at the moment is my History of War class. The teacher just makes the material come alive! Having taken Honors Macro last semester, Microecon 101 is a breeze. Theory of Religion is an awesomely mind bending class that is more philosophy than anything else, but useful philosophy, not "let's regurgitate what Aristotle the Asshole said millenia ago!". Durkheim is my homeboy, even though we may disagree, we're still good for eachother.
Went to the Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum (again) for their Sunday Concert Series because my friend Erin is friends with the Oboeist who also plays for the Boston Pops. They featured Vivaldi, and it was fantastic. The podcast is online at the museum's website if you're interested. When you all visit Boston, we have to stop in there, especially the art-inclined in the crowd, because the collection is brilliant. I especially like the eclectic Greco-Arabic indoor courtyard and the Dutch Masters room.
Spent the last two weekends at Tufts for the most part, and met Dan's friends. Next weekend Dan and I are going to Providence for the Dropkick Murphys concert, then staying at Wheaton to see Mell and Lener :)
Sorry for the quotidian update, but those are required every once and a while.
