Guys, Dolls, and Richard Simmons

Today I arose bright and early and was as productive as can be! I went with my arents to the Metropolitan Plant Exchange to buy some shrubs for the front lawn. (I drove them and they seemed happy with my driving!) I completed a resume (for the Calder Foundation), stripped my sheets, and wrote to my bank back at Syracuse to close out my account. I also did some more unpacking/organizing.

At 2:15, I walked over to Doris' house because we were going to see the high school's musical, "Guys and Dolls!" It was so weird going back there after having graduated college... so much has changed! There is an all-new addition on the school, and it looks really nice! I loved the play... Doris and I were mad that they never did "Guys and Dolls" while we were at the high school! She loves the piano part, and I always wanted to play Miss Adelaide. As a result, I usually have pretty discriminating tastes when it comes to girls who play Adelaide... but this one was faaaantastic! It was my "Bosom Buddy," Alice! She was super cute, and her singing was great! I was pretty sad that they didn't take off more clothes during "Take Back Your Mink"--but the school has always been little wary of the costume department thanks to my scandalous "Cabaret" costumes!! Doris and I were especially impressed by the boys in the cast! They had a solid bunch of guys. Nice!

Either way... it was a fun afternoon! I was home in time for dinner, and after watching the Simpsons, I started my new fitness regime! Besides all that eating healthy stuff, I will do one Richard Simmons videotape plus 300 crunches each day--or an equivalent exercise activity. (I figure if I write that down here, I will feel bad if I don't do it!!)

I should recap this weekend, too... Stacey came up for a weekend visit! It was very fun times! She came on Friday afternoon, and we went to a cafe in Montclair, NJ to see a show. We liked about two of the four bands we stayed to watch. Still, the cafe was cool, and it was a good time!

Then we went back to my house to get our sleep on. In the morning we went over to pick up Doris and the three of us took the bus into New York City for a day of fun! We started out by going to the MET where we saw a cool exhibit ("Goddess"--about Grecian-inspired fashion), took a gander over at the Ancient Egyptian Temple of Dendur (one of my faves!), and saw a Manet/Velazquez exhibit. Incidentally, my favorite painting in that exhibit was a John Singer Sargent: The Daughters of Edward Darley Boit. It was awesome to see it in person, after I am so used to seeing it on a slide. The colors are so much nicer!

After that, we took the subway to the Village, where we were hoping to catch my Professor's closing reception for one of her installations. We were five minutes too late! Oh well. I was sad to have missed it, but it was pretty confusing to find.

Then... we went to John's Pizza: BEST PIZZA IN NEW YORK! I love John's. I was not disappointed.

After that, we went to a place (conveniently located near John's) called the Lion's Den to see Dave's band play there. (They are on tour... chech them out at a location near you! http://www.hijackjupiter.com) They were awesome, and I bought their CD--which is also awesome.

Tomorrow I go back to work! I am excited. Tomorrow is also my Dad's birthday! I am still not done with his birthday present (a Fly Fishing counted cross stitch). I think I will just show him and then finish it as soon as I can. I should go now instead of typing, I could be completing a little more of it!
