Well, it's that time again. There are so many Presidential candidates, I don't know who half of them are and have no idea who I ought to vote for. I still get the feeling that my vote doesn't make any real difference, but that's beside the point. Since I intend to use it anyway, I've been reading about candidates and trying to decide which I like. As unhelpful as it all is, I just came upon this test on my friends page that's supposed to match you with a candidate:
91% Mike Gravel
89% Dennis Kucinich
82% Chris Dodd
81% Barack Obama
79% John Edwards
78% Hillary Clinton
77% Joe Biden
69% Bill Richardson
41% Rudy Giuliani
31% John McCain
30% Ron Paul
24% Mike Huckabee
20% Mitt Romney
16% Tom Tancredo
10% Fred Thompson
2008 Presidential Candidate Matching Quiz To be honest, I don't even know who the top three are, but this list looks like a scale going straight from D at the top to R at the bottom. No surprise there, I guess. Anyway, a list of numbers doesn't tell me very much. They're all listed and presented equally. I want to see just how far apart these suggestions are, so I hopped into Excel to make a little graph:
Now this tells us something different. We see that the top two (Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich) are actually quite close, as I suspected (I could have known just by looking at the numbers, but it's not as obvious or concrete that way). It steps down a little at Chris Dodd, but remains somewhat close from there.
About the only things this test is telling me are that I probably won't vote for a Republican (duh), and I probably won't like Bill Richardson either. I don't even really know who that is. My best match seems to be the top to. I've got some reading to do, though I've previously been leaning toward Obama.
