Laughter

May 07, 2009 15:26

Who: W'ton and Levania
Where: Records room
When: Nearly lunchtime on day 5, month 9, turn 19
What: W'ton is sharing a story with some friends. There's a sudden burst of loud laughter which earns them a shush from the people working and a scolding from Levania.

It's just about lunch time and Vani's in the records room, nose tucked into some records while her fingers are tangled in her hair while she looks. Her nose wrinkled slightly while brows furrowed and she's staring at one page for entirely /too/ long should anyone be watching the young woman. It's obvious she's not really /reading/, but indeed staring at that page.

It's near enough lunchtime that actual work has stopped for plenty of people. The records room seems as good a place as any to not be working and that's where W'ton is to be found. Right now he's seated with a few of his friends from the storeroom sharing a story with them in a quiet voice. However after he says one thing the whole table erupts into laughter loud enough to earn them a glare and a shush from the person on duty in here.

It's the laughter that draws Vani's attention, brows lifting slightly as her fingers remove themselves from her hair. She's watching, if not obviously the group again and brows drawing into another frown as they continue. There's a glance back down to her record and then, with a sigh she closes it and moves to put it away, walking past the table where W'ton is.

"A shame though," one of the men at the table says. "You know, that it was a him. Would have been a lot nicer otherwise I bet." W'ton chuckles and says, "Sure, but it was funny as anything with his-" And there he stops because Levania is walking by and all. "Excuse us, miss," he tells her with a grin. "Hope we weren't being too loud." Which makes for more snickers around the table of course.

Levania stops as she walks past and she's greeted. Brows lift and she shakes her head, "nah..." She starts as the snickers begin. Her chin lifts slightly, "you're just rude. How you are." And that's all she says before she's turning and continuing on her path with a roll of her eyes. Once the record is back, she's walking right past the table again, idly ruffling her skirts.

More snickers, even some outright laughter, and W'ton raises a brow at Levania. "I'm rude. For apologizing for a conversation that got out of hand? That's a whole new definition of rude I think. Where I'm from offering an apology is considered to be polite." One of the other men at the table says, "If we hurt your feelings I'd be happy to kiss them better for you." But one of the men sitting next to him gives him an elbow to the side. Which just makes him laugh.

Levania lifts her brows, "bein' rude for talkin' so loud in the first place." She points out, "where people could be workin'. Could go t'the caverns if you need some place t'be loud." The other man gets a look, and she shakes her head. "Ain't interested in any of you. An' seein' as you all think it's a game." She shrugs again, "rude, like I said."

"Excuse me?" W'ton says with a shake of his head. "We were talking quiet-like. Then something made people laugh. That's hardly being loud the whole time." Then he snaps his fingers and grins. "Right. You're T'rev's sister. No wonder you're giving me grief. Well, carry on, missy. You obviously aren't going to care about the facts." He pauses and informs the rest of the table, "A family trait it would seem."

Levania frowns slightly, "still bein' loud. Could find somewhere else t'do.. Whatever it is that you're doin'." Then he's bringing up T'rev and she's shaking her head. "Nah, 'm not /tryin'/ t'give you anythin'. You started it. Don' call me missy." Hands go to her hips and she's frowning. "Ain't like T'rev an' I don' know what you're talkin' 'bout."

"Now you've got me utterly confused. A quiet conversation at a table has never been disallowed in here." W'ton gives Levania a puzzled look, but just shrugs. "Tried being polite and you just acted like you didn't care," he points out with a grin. "Aiming to pick a fight please go do it somewhere else. We were having a quiet conversation. I hardly think one outburst of laughter ruined your sitting over there and not doing a thing, sweetheart."

Levania shakes her head, frowning. "Nevermind. Don' do no good walkin' 'round in circles 'bout it." Cheeks puff up slightly, "'m not sayin' I don' care, just.. Don' need t'hear excuses." There's a shrug, "ain't pickin' a fight either. An', I was doin' somethin'. But, don' think you'd care too much for it." Shaking her head again, "just don' look like it. Lists are long an' tedious.."

With a shake of his head W'ton stands up. "Well, you'll have to excuse me. Because clearly somehow my being in here with my friends has got you all riled up. We'll just go somewhere we're welcome. Enjoy your stay in here. Go sit back down and stare at nothing, darling. No one's gonna tell." With a wink he waves his friends onward and they all get up with much scraping of chairs on the floor clearly designed to make noise.

Levania's cheeks flush a slight red, "it ain't that." She grumbles at him but then she's shaking her head. "/You/ stay, I ain't stayin'." And as they rise and scrape the floor with their chairs, her eyes roll and she's striding out with fists clenched. "Shardin' boys." Is the last thing she hisses.

She's too far gone to hear it, thankfully. But one of the guys with W'ton says to the group in general, "She's probably got her monthly visitor." Because they're adolescents they snicker the whole way out of the records room to lunch.
