For quite some time after their conversation over the messenger, Fuuka had spent most of the remaining hours staring at the screen of her cell phone. No, she hadn't called Matt yet, although she said she'd let him know. . . After consulting with her parents, she had the okay-- it was New Year's Eve, after all.
This was her first time doing anything like this; there wasn't a guy she could think of that would ever invite her out anywhere. Nighttime was nearing, Fuuka knew she had to do it soon or her chance will be gone.
For a brief moment she was able to set aside her nervousness and pull up Matt's number to dial. Now to see if he would pick up.
"Cause Im due for...a miracle, Im waiting for a sign...I stare straight..into the sun...and I won't close my eyes..." the Ringtone sang out one of Matt's favorite tunes as he blankly stared out and watch the the sky paint itself overtime. Realizing that his phone was ringing, Matt quickly took his phone out, almost flinging it in the air from his speed, before opening the flap and putting it to his ear...
"H- hello," she began meekly, stumbling over her words. It was clear in her voice she was nervous. "This is Fuuka. You wanted me to call you. . . a- about tonight."
"Oh hey" Matt said as he was caught by surprise *I actually didn't expect her to actually call* Matt thought before attempting to hide his surprise "uhh sure, whats on your mind?" he said
"Um, well," Fuuka cleared her throat in an attempt to calm herself. "I wanted to let you know that I, um-- I have some time tonight. If you don't mind, that is."
"Say wha" Matt said, quickly moving the phone away so she didn't hear the comment before answering back. "Sure, its no problem! How far off are you from the strip mall?" Matt replied, trying to hide his surprise before realizing that his face was turning red. This was the first time he's been in a situation like this.Something new for everything would be something Matt would normally say, except he wasn't exactly in the right level headed state he usually is..
She didn't hear the first comment. The rest of it, however, sounded like he was more than willing. Fuuka was glad he couldn't see her face at the moment; the modest, yet very anticipating smile and redness dashed across her face was hard to suppress. "I'm still at home," Fuuka answered, quickly standing up from her spot at the edge of the bed. Before she knew it, she was pacing back and forth within a small area of her room. "Is that okay? I think I can get there within a short amount of time."
"Sure sure sure, its no problem, the ramen place should still be open for a few more hours" Matt said, hiding his definite excitement and glowing face. "I guess I'll see you soon then, I'll be sitting on the bench across from the station ok?" Matt said over the phone
"Ok, hope to see you soon then" Matt said before hanging up. "I guess I have some time to kill" Matt said to himself as he could feel the butterflies in his stomach have a field day. "I guess i should work out this redness" he thought to himself, before kicking his feet foward, throwing his body off the seat before landing on a squat not too far in front, before standing back up and staring at the sky. He couldn't help but have a smile on his face as he continued to stare at the sky, admiring the changing colors of the sky before sitting back down on the seat before looking up once again...
"First time for everything" he quietly said to himself while grinning slightly, his face still blushing, as he waited patiently..
Fuuka hanged up on her end of the line, and quickly got to getting ready. She tried to do this as quickly as she could-- it would be rude to keep Matt waiting. Once that was done (in one of her much nicer tops and skirts, no less), she grabbed her purse and headed hastily out the door and towards the station.
Iwatodai Station was somewhat crowded-- as to be expected. Thankfully she was familiar with Matt looked like, even if they hadn't even spoken to each other much before this. She'd just have to look out for a boy with blond hair. . .
Where was he? This was proving to be more difficult than she anticipated, with all the people going to and fro.
Several min. flew by, but they only seemed like seconds as he played with different thoughts in his head. His concious snapped back into action aftering hearing the chime of the train entering the station, along with the swarm of people spewing in and out as he got up from the bench and walked over the edge of the street, facing out towards the station as he quickly scanned the people coming across. He's seen her before, so it shouldn't be too bad spotting her out.
And fair enough, he saw her, seeming to look around for him as well as he quickly raised his left hand in the air and waving it franticlly, before yelling " hey! over here!" before his face turned red immediately after. he didn't care though, he just wanted to get her attention...
Her attention turned to a sudden, loud voice; she turned her head in its direction, spotting the person in question. Ducking out of the way of a random passerby, she tilted her head.
-- It was him!
The natural thing to do was to approach him, so that's what she proceeded to do. Along the short way there, a million thoughts flew through her mind. What was she supposed to say? Was there anything she needed to do? Did she forget anyth-- no, she didn't need to bring anything. . . Or so she hoped.
Fuuka stopped when she was close enough, bringing her clenched hands by her chin. "I, um. . . " she trailed off, lowering her eyes towards the ground before bringing them back up. "H- hello, Matthew-kun."
There she was, standing only a few feet in front of him. She looked rather cute, especially with her clothes. Matt wondered if he was appropriately dressed. Only having his jacket, a Button up black shirt (untucked of course) and matching Black Jeans and Brown shoes, with the scarf. At least his clothes were a fresh pair, and the Jacket was just washed he wondered..
"Hi Fuuka..." Matt said, trying to to be rude and stare at her, his face glowing an even brighter shade of red. "How...um..how was the cummute? was it alright?" he asked, his mind stupidly not coming up with anything else to say..
She nodded her head. "It was no problem," Fuuka answered. "Busier than normal, but that's probably to be expected for tonight." She lowered her hands in front of her, intertwining her fingers. Unfortunately, ice breakers weren't her strong point either, so for a moment Fuuka had no idea how to break the silence, either. "I think we have some time before the fireworks begin. . ."
"Yea, you want to go have some dinner together, since we have some time before the fireworks go off." Matt said, stumbling on his words a bit. " want to go to the ramen place here? or did you already eat?" Matt asked. He had a hard time making eye contact with her, but he was starting to get used to his heart about to explode out of his chest from nervousness..
