Indeed! It is very much a family home and not always open to the public which is why it was very busy, but glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you! It looks a little like a 1930s Hollywood film set with those blinds - you can just image Greta Garbo in silk trousers wandering about.

We've always been pretty loose with the definition of "castle" and personally I think that's great. Buildings like this, and the history they created and hold, are equally interesting to me, and I suspect to others also.

Thank you - glad you found it interesting! A lot of buildings (not this one though), do start out as castles or fortified houses and gradually lose their original defensive function but they still remain statements of power, wealth and influence so the boundaries get a bit hard to define.
