Sorry this is not a castle (although every man's home is his castle) but the largest Indian style house in Europe, so I thought it might be interesting. Built in 1805 by the Cockerell family around the time the Prince Regent was building Brighton Pavilion in the same style, it has survived without being modified by later changes in style. In the 1920s the poet John Betjemin used to travel up from Oxford to stay here. The gardens are famous for their wide variety of plants.
