Intersecting Paths

He admired her as she sat on the edge of the bed, pulling her arms through the sleeves of his shirt. It was almost tantalizing as he watched her delicate fingers work their way up the fabric, slowly employing the use of each button until she reached the cusp of her breasts at which point his eyes stopped to admire the smooth flesh. He knew that she was smiling to herself over his adoration of her body - that was to be expected from someone as flawless as her.
She looked up to him from where she was seated to watch him. He laid in bed with several pillows behind his back and only a thin sheet covering him from the waist down. The room appeared lavish with expensive furnishings professionally set out. No personal articles resided anywhere in sight save for the deadly blade resting on one night stand, and dark colored gun resting on the other. Despite the temporary truce called between the two professionals, they both knew better than to separate themselves from their armaments in each other’s company.
“I suppose it worked out for the best this way,” she smiled slyly at him, closing another button.

“You suppose?” he arched an eyebrow at her inquisitively.
“Well,” she drawled, climbing over the bed until she was hovering over him, nose to nose, “you have to admit that the best part is the chase. I think that I rather enjoyed pursuing your employer,” she purred. “It’s a shame that my orders were cancelled.”
He ran his hands through her hair, causing several of the silky strands to fall over her shoulder and land on his chest. “But then I would have had to kill you,” his spoke sveltely, pulling her face to his own and gently kissing her lips.
“I think it was that kind of talk that landed me in here with you in the first place.” She playfully ran her fingernails over his bare chest enjoying the feel of his muscular torso. Her action sent delightful chills down his body.
“And where will you find yourself next?”
“My former employer wasted my time pursuing someone that he didn’t really want to have killed. I suppose I will have to find him and let him know how much I despise having my time wasted.”
“Will I see you again?” he looked into her eyes as he spoke.
“I’m sure our paths will cross again,” she replied coyly.
“Then maybe I shouldn’t let you leave just yet,” he replied, pulling her body firmly against his own and rolling over onto her. His hands slid down the length of her arms and stopped as they captured her wrists, holding her in place.
“I thought I told you that I like to be in control,” she pouted as she attempted to pull her wrists free of his grasp, to which he only held tighter.
“Not this round, Mina,” he whispered into her ear, his baritone voice sending shivers down her body.
