Is it just me, or has
David Hewlett gone batshit crazy? His IMDB page lists some pretty sketchy stuff since SGA, but I remember thinking we all thought he was a great actor, really fun, we wanted to meet him or sleep with him or think about his ass all night long. And now, he's talking and doing thes selfie-vids, but I just can't listen because it's babble.
*sigh* All good things must end. Someday we will look at Benedict Cumberbatch and wonder how we ever thought he was cool because he's got meth face and is on his fifth wife and hasn't had a hit since 2019. Or whatever. Probably not. But you know what I mean.
"Is It Just Me?" is also the name of the book of one MIRANDA HART. (www.mirandahart.com) And if you don't know who she is and have not watched her comedy, "Miranda," well sir/madam, you are missing out. I am not even joking, it is the best thing ever. You will think "what?" when you start watching and then you will be helpless with laughter and love and stuff.
Here are shows that I have watched at least one episode of and do not recommend. You're welcome to try them for yourself, please do! But it's part of my ongoing evolution (and need to cancel cable, stat, because I have no money), that I do not find any of these shows remarkable in any way, even though I thought that I might.
If I should give something a closer look / another chance, do tell!
- The Strain
A less interesting Walking Dead with sleep-inducing protagonists. Have seen all current eps tho.
- Black Box
Not remotely interesting, despite intriguing premise.
- Forever
NOT EVEN IOAN GRUFFUD CAN SAVE IT. It's another Elementary/Mentalist/Listener/Perception/etc etc etc Sherlock-derivative with a supernatural twist. A similar storyline was done much better in the sadly-canceled "New Amsterdam" which only ran for 8 episodes and had Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.
- Selfie
I know, I know, I watched (and will probably watch again) for John Cho and Amy Pond. I mean, Karen Gillan. But dear god it's hideous. I mean, really bad. I can't even.
- Legends
Sean Bean! But yeah. I can't stay focused because of cliched stories and cliched team-fu.
-Salem
I can't even recall why I didn't like it, but I didn't. Cheeseball supernatural, not of the good kind. Not after American Horror Story was so slick this year.
-Crossbones
I tried, I really did. But it wasn't very interesting. John Malkovich! So cool! Maybe just bad writing, dunno what was wrong.
-Dominion
SyFy epic with Giles that seemed like it was going to be maybe even a little bit awesome. It wasn't.
-Extant
I'm trying with this one, but it is soooo boring and... I'm too bored to try to say why it isn't working.
-Outlander
I may watch more, but the first ep dragged its ass and then I read about the books and the author and was totally turned off.
-Rush
Words cannot say how much I adore Tom Ellis (see above re: MIRANDA). I've seen a LOT of his British stuff, he's fantastic and hot. This series is total crap. An adrenalin junkie is a doctor to the stars! Like Ray Donovan only a doctor! Can he win the love of his life back? Do we care? (We do not.)
Did anyone see The Night Shift and like it?
If you wanted to,
you could read this entry on Dreamwidth too, friend me there, or you know, bake a cake. Whatever you like. (
