Because I feel like ass wrapped in death, I have of course spent the night surfing the interwebs. Here are some of the totally geeky and probably not at all interesting to anyone but me things I have found tonight.

From the nytimes' At Tully Hall, Worry Over the Pipe Organ’s Return:
...The organ is not an obscure instrument. It’s not like we’re dealing with the banjo or accordion, with all due respect to those instruments.

CAREFUL, MUSIC GEEKS. THEMS FIGHTIN' WORDS. LOL

And At an Age for Music and Dreams, Real Life Intrudes:
Enchanted by Pachelbel as a child, given free lessons by a teacher who recognized her talent, blessed with the gift of musical sight reading, Ms. Clay has not been as fortunate with other parts of her young life. Her worries are not about prom dresses but about family, and rent, and employment.

This article is kind of heartbreaking, but completely unsurprising. :(

From NPR's As Newspapers Downsize, Cities Lose Arts Critics:
All over the country, cash-strapped newspapers are cutting back on coverage of local museums, theaters and dance groups.

....So uh, guess it's a good thing I didn't go into arts criticism after all, huh?

And two interesting obits from the nytimes: Frances Blaisdell, 'Girl Flutist' Who Opened Doors -- see, when I was a kid, the flute was too girly for boys. Go figure!

And last, but most importantly: Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick, a Pioneer of Gay Studies and a Literary Theorist, Dies at 58 -- I can't even tell you how much of her writing I read in college. Between the queer theory classes and the musicology classes, it was a lot. So this one's a sad one. :(

So, you know, that's that.

Still dealing with Wednesday's news. Finally wrote thank you notes, though, so there's that. Working on my lgbtfest fic....if by "working on", you mean "sitting around not writing a damn word." Which of course, I do.

I started getting sick yesterday and am now full-blown coughy. I also have my period, which of course is always fun, but this month I think is trying to compete for the title of Most Violent Cycle Ever. So basically, my body is trying to rip me to pieces -- literally -- which is always good times.

And so of course the weather would choose this weekend to be absolutely perfect "go to the city and sunbathe in the park" weather. I'm gonna try to still go, but you know, suckage.

And that's it! How's it goin' with you, flist?

mwahs!

ETA: I forgot to mention that I am pleased to announce that I "hacked" my iGoogle page so that I could rearrange my tabs. This is both the awesomest and saddest thing I've done in weeks. LOL Laterz!

r.i.p., articles, catchup (not catsup hahaha), ugh my body hates me, linkspam, geekout
