WHAT UP YO.
I am, indeed, still alive...go figure. It's been a busy few weeks, what with supercraziness at work, catching up on tv shows just in time to get behind again, trying to write an essay for my grad school application (which I'm totally questioning whether it's even a good idea now, indecision and self-doubt FTW!), and oh, yeah, that little vacation thing. I could probably go on at some length about all of the above, but I've kind of learned that the people for whom I used to write these things (you know, to save having to retell the same story over and over again? LOL) rarely end up reading it anyway, so I'll save the salient details for the one-on-one recount. :)
There have only been a few things worth mentioning the last few weeks, like Sam's graduation, which made me superproud and happy; us fighting, which did NOT make me superproud and happy; and a lot of unexpected hanging out with old and (mostly) dear friends, which made me a little Florida-sick and happy all at once. I do desperately miss my Florida friends, and I miss being there and seeing them often (and at my leisure, instead of trying to cram six months of hanging out into like, four days...), and I *desperately* miss the me that I am with them, that level of comfort and calm, that confidence and carefree nature (even when it's unwarranted). I took several steps outside of my comfort zone this past week, and even when it didn't work out so well, and even though it was kind of really overwhelming in a few cases, it was nice to be reminded that, given enough support, I'm still capable of doing things like that. The trip was nothing I expected, and everything I hoped for (almost -- Steph, I miss you like whoa!!!), and I think it was just what I needed to get me ready for the new year.
On a pretty much totally unrelated note, I am preparing a Xmas mix (remember when I used to do those? Man, 2006 feels so long ago! LOL) which is finally almost done. It is totally NOT Xmas-themed (in fact, its tentative title in my head -- which has been its theme throughout -- is "The Personal is Political is Personal", so uh, there's that), but I hope to have it done and posted for download right around Xmas. I'm also willing to make hard copies for whoever wants one, although I make NO promises about when they might be mailed. Comment here if you're interested or just send me an email (contact info in my profile and whatnot) with your info and we'll see what we can do.
I think this is now long enough to meet my verbosity standards (hehe), so I'm gonna STFU. Hope all is well, happy Xmas and merry holidays and whatnot. I'll probably stop by around the holiday itself with a holiday-themed post, but for now, I'll uh, STFU. :D
