Oh, so this is what the First Great Depression was like

I'm in the midst of a communications blackout, and it's pissing me off. I have no internet access at home, what with a dead router and now totally fucked up settings (the latter totally my fault, from my childlike attempt to fix things by pressing every button under "Network Settings").

And now my Gmail account is inaccessible, making me kind of nervous. Come on, Google, usually this shit only happens for 10 minutes at a time -it's been out for several hours. How do I communicate with the outside world, smoke signals? Semaphore?

Also, I have to write something today that I really don't want to write, plus I found an error I made in the new issue (for something I wrote in someone else's section, which always makes me feel like a dolt). Way to be craptacular, week.

But! Tonight is the debate, and Obama is staying in there. Who doesn't have plans for Election Night? Who wants plans? I am going to be nervous right til the end, so I need people around me. Also good: My sister is moving to New Jersey, to work for Mercedes-Benz, which will be a whole new kind of weird. She and I haven't lived in the same place since mid-1996. I'm going to get to know New Jersey now, beyond Newark's Air Train and the Ikea bus. Apparently, there's more.
