Bevlyn's thoughts: Same Side Of The Moon
Shawn got to know of our band when he heard us at
Yeow Wei and Yen Yen's wedding. With the whole wedding as a 'preview' to how his wedding would be like with a live band around, Shawn was prompt to get the contact of the band from Yeow Wei.
And we were not the only performers for the evening. A young girl, accompanied by her mother on keyboard, played the violin to the tune of Canon In D to mark the first march-in.
I love to watch the scene of couples making their entrance into the ballroom of the Intercontinental Hotel because the curtains are pulled and lights are shone to highlight the appearance of the happy couple. Shawn and Ann-Nee (with her sparkly gown) gave their million-dollar smiles when the light hit them and all the guests greeted them with their warm applause.
One other talented performer was Timmy, a 10-year-old young man who offered to sing Can't Take My Eyes Off You to Uncle Shawn and his wife. Timmy had a little rehearsal with us before the dinner, and we were amazed by his maturity.
When he performed on the stage with Shawn and Ann Nee dancing to the tune, he owned the stage and got the crowd worked up with his number. Timmy revealed to us later on that he hopes to be involved in the
High School Musical one day!
I think the highlight of the whole evening was when Shawn serenaded Ann Nee with his guitar playing. The couple is a huge fan of Corrine May, and so Shawn played the guitar accompaniment while I sang
Same Side Of The Moon.
We enjoyed the warm response from the guests, and it was great to meetup with Yeow Wei again, who could finally sit down and enjoy the music this time round.
