Hsin Yeow's thoughts: When You Say Nothing At All
King Lorng nursed a secret love for Veronica way back in 1999.
They were junor college classmates then.
According to Veronica, they were "we were too shy to talk to each other during JC days", even though "there was chemistry"
They started dating a couple of years later, due to King Lorng's "persistence" (as mentioned by Shioli, one of the bridesmaids). Veronica then found him to be a "very humorous person". He is also "a very patient and laid back dude".
But there's something that binds them together: the love for football. Veronica explained, "King Lorng is a die hard fan of Manchester United. I was not, but now I am! There goes the saying " If you can't beat them, join them". We will go out in the wee hours (3-4am) to Kopitiam during big games to cheer our team on."
One of the highlights of the wedding for me was a special video made by King Lorng and Veronica's friends. More than 10 of them recorded video snippets of their well-wishes, which were then painstakingly stitched together into one touching whole. One video was actually recorded by a friend who was in York! The wonders of technology can really help to bring people closer together.
Another memorable moment was King Lorng's spontaneous rendition of Love Will Keep Us Alive. In this thank-you speech, he had boasted of an "easy" time at the gate-crashing ceremony. So I threw down the gauntlet and asked him to serenade Veronica. He rose to the challenge, and sang wonderfully. Way to go, King Lorng!
