Bevlyn's Thoughts: I Finally Found Someone
I got to know Bjoern and Agnes through Fang Ting and Shu Hong...even though they do not know each other. I was singing at the latter's outdoor wedding at the beach at Rasa Sentosa, and Bjoern and Agnes heard my band when they were dining nearby. I was invited over by a waitress and voila, the rest was history! I have to say though, that at that point, I was doubtful that Bjoern and Agnes would really engage my band because their wedding was 1.5 years away. But here we are today!
The wedding was hosted by 2 lovely emcees, one of whom was Agnes' ex-teacher. How many of us can lay claim to still keep in touch with our ex-teachers? Mrs Ang is an English teacher, but took on the challenge of being the Mandarin emcee and doing the Mandarin translation on the fly! Other than this talent, she also displayed her musical flair by requesting the band to accompany her on '月亮代表我的心' (The Moon Represent My Heart). What a great surprise wedding gift for the couple!
The male emcee on the other hand, gave 3 very good tips to Bjoern:
1. Never buy a waterbed, cos it will make you (the couple) drift apart
2. If you're wrong, admit it
3. If you're right, shut up
You may be surprised, but Bjoern had exactly the same points 2 & 3 in his speech too!
The evening was a little nerve-wrecking for us because we were thinking about the 1 hour dance segment right at the end of the banquet. At first we were worried that many guests would start leaving; to our surprise, many stayed behind out of curiosity, and we were thrilled to see Agnes' father on the dance floor!
The wonderfully groovy music by Ian on keyboard, Regi on bass, Boon Chye on sax and Boon Gee on drums got many hips moving, including our own! We had such a blast! :)
I couldn't help taking a quick snap while I was on the mic:
When we break into our 'cool down' dance songs, I couldn't help but invite the busy Bjoern and Agnes for the last slow dance to own the night. Our pick was 'The way you look tonight'. As the lyrics go:
