Hsin Yeow's thoughts: 就是爱你 (Just Loving You)

Schmike is a man after my own heart. In one of my conversations with him, he cocked his head to one side and remarked, "I always plan surprises. I surprised Alice by proposing to her when she least expected it. So I must do something special on our wedding day!"

Before I write about what Schmike did on his wedding day, let me backtrack a bit and tell you about his proposal. He popped the question when he and Alice were on a holiday in Batam, Indonesa. More specifically, they had just finished frolicking with dolphins.

All the photographs in this entry were lovingly shot by Edmund Leong
After Alice stepped out of the dolphin lagoon, she was presented with a 'special gift'. She tore the box open, and found a mini gumball machine. With a look of trepidation, she twisted the knob which was supposed to release the sweets inside, and out came...a diamond ring! At that precise moment, Schmike knelt down on one knee and proposed. Alice didn't know what hit her, and for the next few minutes, she was overwhelmed with such unadulterated joy that all she could do was splutter, "Yes" and shed tears of happiness.

Fast forward to the wedding day, 9 December. Schmike's surprise for Alice was to sing a David Tao number called 就是爱你 (Just Loving You).

Schmike's voice could melt hearts, I tell you, and the moment he started singing, Alice's tears fell. It didn't help matters as Schmike ended his performance by giving his wife a passionate kiss. Ah, it was a perfect moment.

P.S. Schmike is a fan of a capella music, so he arranged for one of the top a capella groups in Singapore, Key Elements, to perform before we did. They were fantastic!

Band: Hsin Yeow, Bevlyn, Ein Ein, Jonathan Lim

P.S. Notice Schmike's hair? It was much longer when he was dating Alice. He told me he cut it short before he met Alice's parents for the first time!

P.P.S. We bid a warm welcome to Jonathan Lim, who was taking a well-deserved break from his parenting duties to play for us.

Schmike's mom was an ardent fan of Bevlyn!

Repertoire:

Sway, Annie's Song, Wonderful Tonight, 甜蜜蜜 (Honey Sweet), More Than Words, I Want To Make It With You, I Do (Cherish You), Angels Brought Me Here, 就是爱你 (Just Loving You), 牵阮的手 (Hold My Hand), 爱是永恒 (Love Is Eternal)

La Vie En Rose (2nd March-in), L-O-V-E, I Knew I Loved You, From This Moment, Lover's Concerto,給我一個吻 (Give Me A Kiss), 我只在乎你 (I Only Care About You), Endless Love, 一人一半 (One Half), I've Finally Found Someone, Quando Quando Quando, 选择 (Choice)

The repertoire went down very well with the guests, especially the Mandarin numbers, which received the loudest applause. Schmike's mom danced along to the music, and even presented Bevlyn with flowers when she was singing 甜蜜蜜 (Honey Sweet) and 我只在乎你 (I Only Care About You)!

Song To Recommend:

Annie's Song - A touching paean by the late John Denver, to his first wife.

SMS compliments from Schmike:

Thanks so much. You guys are great! I can't wait to watch the video actually, as I missed most of your performance.

I love the way you choreographed the 2nd march-in. Till today, Alice and I are still humming La Vie En Rose!

Compliments from Schmike and Alice: Thank you for making my wedding beautiful...

First of all, many thanks to "A Little Dream" for making my wedding a Special and beautiful one.

Alice and I knew without a doubt that Hsin Yeow & Bevlyn have that gifted voice to become our wedding singers when we visited them for a demo. :")

Like Hsin Yeow has added my compliments from my sms, I truly love his choreograph of my 2nd march-in. I wanted an unique 2nd march-in rather than the usual playing from CD. I was initially worried that the very short aisle for the march-in @ Meritus Mandarin Ballroom may be too short for a song but Hsin Yeow just assured me to leave it to him.

Indeed, he had made it beautiful and ROMANTIC with Alice & I march up to the stage and he announced us to the cake cutting and champagne pouring while the sweet music of "La Vie En Rose" playing in the background. I still recall every moments til now.

Another great service from Hsin Yeow & Bevlyn is the Emcee. They did a brilliant job professionally without any scripts! This saves me quite a fair bit of time.

Last but not least, it's my surprise to Alice. With the beautiful accompaniment, I sang 就是爱你 (Just Loving You) confidently in front of 900 guests and my beloved Alice is moved with tears.

Of course, not forgetting the combination of Jazz, Pop + Mandarin & Hokkien classics that entertained the crowd for the rest of the evening.

On the whole, Alice & I are extremely glad and satisfied with the entire event. I'll like to exceptionally compliment Hsin Yeow for his passionate and thoughtful service that he has rendered. It's the little things that he does that I really appreciate.

Appreciated,
Schmike & Alice
