A little crossover squee.

May 04, 2006 22:14

I made $20 phone credit last for THREE MONTHS. With $2.44 to spare, of course it's expired now, but that's an amazing effort in being ridiculously cheap.

I have three essays due next week, and I started ONE of them, but I am so terribly tired.
I need sustenance.
Possibly sleep.

But sleep is for the weak.

SGA:

rageprufrock has updated her Bell Curve universe with... Snapshots from bell curve.
I don't understand why you're reading this when you can be reading THAT ^.

seperis has posted a new snippet to the Teacher's Pet universe, ie, wherein John has been stunted down to his kiddie self and generally acts adorable making the Pegasus galaxy explode with maternal instint.

CROSSOVERS! WOOHOO (Because I love good crossovers, I can't get enough.) Ganked from the lovely ficrecs whose recs make me happy with their diversity. And still, much kudos to anyone who braves ff.net.

Crumpets Aren't My Style by Marz1
STARGATE SG-1/HP
GEN
Summary: General O'Neil is sent on a nice relaxing dipolmatic mission in the U.K. Of course there's bound to be trouble when he runs into a murderous cult called the Death Eaters, who've some how gotten their hands on alien technology.
Why: Interesting crossover concept, pretty much IC, and hell, I haven't seen this one done, nevermind done WELL. It's complete, I think, but I haven't finished reading it. (This is mostly so I have a link I can access anywhere).

Masks and Shadows by Kilerkki and link no miko.
NARUTO/HP
GEN
Summary: On the surface, it's a routine bodyguard mission at an entirely unusual School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. But underneath the underneath, demons are lurking...
Why: NarutoxHP crossovers are almost never handled well because let's face it, the only thing you want to see is the snotty witches and wizards being shown how it's DONE by ninjas who kick arse in any continent. Most xovers can't strike the balance between this need to see the special effects and how to tell an effective story that can be interesting regardless. One of things that made me like this one (and frustratingly it's WIP so I desperately want to know what happens) is the CHARACTERS chosen to go to Hogwarts. It's not just team seven, the choices are logical, and the language barrier is present rather than just wiped away. Huzzah for Shikamaru and the Hyuugas. Also, kudos to people who can write asian-english. You would think it's easy to write without grammar or correct intonation, but it's actually surprisingly difficult in text. And yes, the fights are cool and satisfying.
