I haven't gotten my certificate for my class yet, so I e-mailed the teacher and asked what's up. He says that he has them ready, but because of the holidays he has yet to be able to catch the adjudicator to have him sign off on the certificates. He was working on it and would get them soon ( Read more... )

Wow - that's a tough one to answer. Here is my two cents. After High School I moved out on my own. I'd been working part time since I was 12 so moving to full time work was no big stretch. I started to attend the local community college simply because I enjoyed learning and I could afford $30 a credit hour. I bought the books used when I could and scraped by. I never actually got my degree, I never graduated college. The job I took started me working with computers - a passion I had since I was young - and my experience grew from there. Now, some 12 years later, I still have no degree and I am a Director of IT making $50k+ a year. I've kept up with modern training and continually learn the new technology just to maintain my understanding of modern computers. It takes a lot of effort, but it is worth it.
Now that we have finally managed to get Margie her masters I am considering going back to get my Associates, Bachelors, Masters, and perhaps even Doctorate degrees. But that would be something I would do for myself, not for a career. I know people who are making good money who never graduated from college and I know people who are in great jobs that would never have gotten them without a college degree. It just depends on your degree and your desire in life, I guess.

Sorry things suck right now, just remember that every payment you make cuts your debt by that much more and soon it will be gone.

*hugs*
