Last night I noticed that the area where I had my lower teeth pulled has big gaps on both sides. I thought that it was dry socket -- the only thing I've ever heard about holes in the gums has been about dry socket. Plus, my gums have never truly stopped bleeding. I was so worried that I had that awful problem that I barely got any sleep whatsoever. I was seriously freaking out.
I called the oral surgeon 'on call' this morning who basically said that it's probably not dry socket. He said if it's not extremely painful, then it's nothing to worry too much about. I guess the holes are just the wounds healing from the inside out. I've never heard that before, but I'm hoping that's all it is. I really, really don't want dry socket, though now I feel foolish for overreacting/panicking before.
I mean, there's always the chance that I'll still get it within the next week for some reason... I hope not, however.
Ugh. I can't wait for this whole thing to be over. My cheeks are kinda puffy and sensitive. Oh, and one of the wisdom teeth pushed a few of my other teeth out of alignment because of crowding, so now I'll probably need Invisalign (or possibly braces, though I doubt I would need something that harsh) sometime in life. =(
