oh my fourth

hello friends!  i hope you all had a lovely and fireworky independance day.

im not feeling to great lately.  i'm thinking it might be because Hollywood is going to change really soon.  Lots of people are moving, or quiting, or are leaving because of other people.  First of all Anal Co-Worker is getting on everyones nerves.  Anal Co-Worker is just a jerk.  He's not so much a bad guy, or anything, he's just kind of a jerk at times.  He's gotten under Teasing Co-Worker's skin so bad that he's going to quit because he can't stand Anal Co-Worker.  Then Tall Co-Worker is going to go to school in Lincoln in the fall, Twin Co-Worker Friend now has two jobs and it's burning her out, so shes probably going to quit HV and move on to this other job, Co-Worker Friend just realized how much she doesn't like working for HV, and how they treat their employee's badly, and she's gotten multiple other job offers from other people (also she's going to move in about a year an a half to either Sioux Falls, IA, or St. Louis, MO), and Bossman D is going to move around next April (so i heard), so that leaves pretty much Anal Co-Worker and Me.  And maybe Sickly Co-Worker, but hopefully not because he's hardly around anyway.

Anal Co-Worker is just... he's a jerk.  He has an excuse for every mistake he makes, he doesn't take criticism very well, but gives it out freely, and if anyone makes a mistake, he likes to push it back in your face some how or another.  Like, one night, Tall Co-Worker and I were running behind schedule, and we had a million different things to do that night, and Tall Co-Worker clocked us out earlier than we actually were finished, so pretty much, he said "stop where you are, it's fine... we're not getting paid right now anyway (because we're already clocked off)"  So i stopped, and we are about to leave when i noticed that we forgot to put the games away (Anal Co-Worker's favorite), and i just said "SHIT!" because there was nothing i could do.  Once that alarm is set, it's set.  So i left, but i knew Anal Co-Worker was going to shoot me in the head for that... even though it's not truely my fault.  I would've done it if i could've stopped Tall Co-Worker from setting the alarm.

Next time i worked (which was two days later), Anal Co-Worker put a finger in my face and said "next time, put the games away"  and i told him how i didn't mean to leave them, and i explained the situation to him, which he let go after i was finished explaining.  Well, the next time i worked, i filled in for Co-Worker Friend (the 3rd to be precise), and i was just taking a short shift i didn't want to take.  I was visibly not happy about working, and what does Anal Co-Worker do?  He points to the counter behind me, and he says "have fun putting the games away" and i said, i wasn't closing (which is when i always put the games away), and he said "well, i figured, you left them for me..."

um... jerk?  i knew he was going to be a big baby about me forgetting the games.  he's ALWAYS a big baby about everything.

We have a system were we pay a quarter for certain bad habits that everyone in the store has... like, my biggest bad habit is at the end of the night, i'll forget to stock the pop.  It's just my bad habit, i have nothing against it or anything.  Another bad habit is forgetting to call the District Manager with the number of  "bundles" we had sold that day.  Not turning off the VCR at the end of the night is another bad habit of many people in the store.   Dropping off  "pre-streets" (which are movies that are due to be released the next tuesday) in the outside box is also a complete no-no that the youngsters have a habit of doing.  They also tend to leave the spare bathroom key in their pocket and take it home with them, which leaves a big disadvantage to the next person who needs it.  So, to wean us off of these bad habits, we have a list of bad things that we could potentially owe a quarter for if caught doing said bad habit.

He had me and Sickly Co-Worker pay a quarter because we didn't put a "Guaranteed" sign on Syriana, when he should've done it the sunday before anyway.   AND!! it wasn't even my job that day, it was Sickly Co-Worker's, and i'm completely poor, and i need to save every quarter i have!  AND HE KNOWS THAT!!!  i paid it anyway... EVEN THOUGH it's not on the list of things to owe a quarter for... AND i've never had to pay a quarter for anything before this.  I wasn't happy about that.

He likes to pretend that he's so funny and so knowledgable, and mr. rulebooklet.  It's just insane.  he was playing Pirates of the Caribbean on the small tv to make sure the disc didn't skip or pixelate.  Now, i know when im supposed to be working, and i wasn't really watching it unless i had no customers and i had no movies to clip or check in.  So, i happened to catch a scene, and then i helped a customer who came up, and then i quoted a line from the movie to him (which he does to me all the time).  What did Anal Co-Worker do?  he said "yeah... you need to stop watching that." and then turned the monitor off.  So... as if i wasn't feeling like shit already... he just kept making it worse, and then pretended like i wasn't pissed off at all.

Also, i was putting the games away, like he told me to, and all of a sudden, i feel a poke on my butt... it was Anal Co-Worker opening the drawer and not asking me to move.  rude much?

I dont know.  He just does the littlest things and it pisses everyone off.  Co-Worker Friend has a problem with him because she's his boss, kinda, and so she tells him little things that he could do to make everyone's lives/jobs easier, but he always has an excuse for why he didn't do it.  Like, we have these slips that we fill out whenever someone forgot to put the DVD back in the case.  Well, whenever they bring back the disc, we have no use for the slip anymore, so we throw it away.  He leaves them sitting on the counter.  It drives Co-Worker Friend up the wall, so she tells him that he can throw those away as soon as he takes them out, and he starts in on an excuse for why he put them on the counter, which wasn't necessary.  All she did was tell him to start putting them in the trash, and didn't even ask for an excuse.  It's just silly really.  He does that every time she gives him advise like that.  She is also getting sick of the way he calls her every single time he's in trouble or has news for her.  Even on ths simplest problems that he could easily figure out, he calls her for help.

its just so silly.   He wants to be in a manager position, but he cant even handle some of the littlest problems.

aaaaaaaand i'm done ranting on him.

PEOPLE YOU MET IN THIS ENTRY:

Anal Co-Worker:  if you need to read this, you didn't read this entry.  the only new info i can tell you about him is he's around 25 years old, graduated from college with a bachelors degree in psychology (which he should've stayed in school to get his masters),  and STILL lives with his parents.  he's the typical "dont be like him" role model.

Tall Co-Worker: He's really tall.  I mean, he's not just taller than all of us... he's like a gentle giant.  He's around 6'8 feet tall.  I kid you not.  if i'm lying, then he's 6'6 or 6'7.  He's a giant.  He's also really skinny, and just graduated high school with my brother and Twin Co-Worker Friend.  Infact they were kind of make-out buddies for awhile, and thought we didn't know.  Buaha!  Anyway, he's a nice kid, who gets along with people well, and is really funny, except he's really quiet, and almost shy, despite his millions of goth friends.  He likes to smoke, do a little weed, and drink.  Kinda like Twin Co-Worker Friend.   He's a good kid really, he's just really quiet.

Teasing Co-Worker: He was our customer for the longest time before they hired him.  He works for a Paper company i think, or a book company, something to do with a lot of paper, and then treats HV like a secondary job.  A "job for fun" if you will.  He is very sarcastic 24/7 and has the sharpest and quickest wit you'll find.  He likes to tease everyone, especially Anal Co-Worker (because Anal annoys Teasing to death) and Twin Co-Worker Friend (because she's an easy target).  He's close friends with Co-Worker Friend.  Pretty much he's a wild fire.  He likes to bar hop.  and woo women.  He's not really a womanizer though, he just happens to find a lot of crazy women.  He pretty much just tells it like it is.

Bossman D:  He's one of the nicest bosses you'll find.  He's very cool, very charming, and just a fun-loving guy.  He doesn't ask much out of us, but when he does, it's best if you do it.   He hardly reprimands any of us, and if he does he is very nice about it.  He's also very understanding.    He wants to end up teaching art classes for students of any age.   He's an amazing artist, and started the whole "paint movie characters on our windows" thing.  which turns out awesome.  I should take pictures of them because it's really pretty cool.  Bossman D also is a huge fan of samurai, kung-fu, martial arts movies.  He actually teaches a martial arts class on the side as well to young kids.  He's a very respectable guy.   One of the few respectable managers in our district.   We're very lucky to have him.

Sickly Co-Worker (and Tinkerbell):  He's a strange cat.  Bossman D once worked with him at David's Bridal, and saw his application for HV, and hired him on the spot.  Because of this, he doesn't have a lot of knowledge about the job as anal co-worker, tall co-worker and i do.   He's a shift leader, like us (which is like a step above being a guest service representative, which is what twin co-worker friend and teasing co-worker are).  He's pretty frail.  He's just about as skinny as Tall Co-Worker is, but he looks like if you touch him accidentally the wrong way, he'll shatter into pieces.  That's how frail he looks.  He and his girlfriend who i've lovingly nicknamed "Tinkerbell", are always sick... it's always one or the other too.  First Sickly Co-Worker was very very sick for about two weeks, then Tinkerbell became extremely ill for about two weeks, then Sickly Co-Worker went through an illness for about another two weeks.  It's insane.  I always end up filling in for one of his shifts because he's seriously sick.  They both have horrible immune systems.

Anyway, i lovingly call her "Tinkerbell" because the first night i met her was when i was working with Sickly Co-Worker on Halloween.  She was dressed up as a fairy of some sort, but Oldest Friend was visiting me at work that night, and at one point said to me "so, is Tinkerbell his girlfriend?"  and i couldn't help but giggle profusely at that.  So, now, everytime i see her i just think "oh, look, it's tinkerbell" and i just cant help but smile every time.
