As I walk through the valley
Of the shadow of LA
The footsteps that were next to me
Have gone their separate ways
This popped up on my Ipod while we were driving home. Seems… fitting, somehow, at the time. Especially considering my hometown.
So, vacation recap:
Visited with dad. He looks a lot better then he did a few months ago. +1
Saw the old childhood friends. Realized we’ll never reconnect. Kinda meh. I expected it, at least…?
Realized hometown took a 180 and it is barely recognizable after 5 years. Wtfery.
And… road trip. Apparently my sister’s dog is a tourist attraction. If we had a dollar for every time someone stopped to coo at her, we’d have paid for the entire vacation by the time we made it back here. It also made things very slow going. Still lulzy. YES THE “PUPPY” IS 16 YEARS OLD. The disbelief was pretty funny, too.
Took in the Idyllwild mountain air. Was fun. Especially considering the creek I spent summers messing around in as a kid was still there in the Cali drought.
Went to Solvang. Ate yummy Danish food.
And… well, by the day after that, I was vacationed out and kinda worn down. I am obviously one of those people who don’t do these long ass road trips and prefer home.
So all in all: great vacation, loved seeing old places, not so much the people, but a bit too much all the same.
