I loved this episode. I mean... really, really loved this episode! It may possibly be my favourite episode so far this season. Yeah, I really loved Doppelganger too and I'd be hard put to choose between them but I love them for different reasons... and Travelers is just so much Sheppy awesomeness..... I think I've watched it about 6-7 times already ( Read more... )

sga, sheppard, whump, season 4, travelers

You know, I feel kinda guilty for not being more squeeful about the episode than I was -- I felt the same about Real World, an episode which didn't do much for me personally, but I really was very happy that Elizabeth fans had gotten an episode where she could shine, and I really am happy that you liked this one, and that the Sheppard fans and Sheppard whumpers got an episode that was all about them. And there were some really lovely parts -- I love seeing Sheppard in his "smart and resourceful" mode, and his bored-little-kid look when he flopped down on the bed in the cell was adorable. As we saw before in Common Ground, he's not a guy who generally needs to be rescued, which is pretty cool; he's smart and competent and quite good at rescuing himself. I liked seeing that side of him get a chance to shine. And as we've seen a few times before, but never quite to this extent, he *does* know a lot more about technology than he usually lets on, and it was really nifty to see that he's perfectly capable of fixing broken Ancient tech on his own.

Hey, no worries hon. Life'd be pretty boring if we were all the same and all thought the same. It's a shame you didn't enjoy the ep as much as I did but I can see where your dissatisfactions arise from - hopefully you can still enjoy the bits you feel were good without the bits that bug you overshadowing it too much.

I really did love that this episode was so much about Sheppard and, although I hadn't thought about it as such before, it really did seem overdue to have such a Sheppard-focused episode.. really the first we've had to this extent. I too adored smart and resourceful Sheppard - I don't know if you've looked at the script pages that you can download from the MGM Atlantis website? But it's interesting to read in there that there was a line in the script during the "fixing the chair" scene that was dropped during filming/editing, where Sheppard said to himself something along the lines of "C'mon, you've seen McKay do this a thousand times.." I loved that; it's a shame the line wasn't left in. It's a nice indication that Sheppard a) is smart nad has picked up knowledge over the years and b) is actually paying attention when Rodney does stuff!

I agree he was utterly adorable when flopped on the bed, looking soo bored. Like a petulant kid! :D Dammit, how can a 40 year old man manage to look that cute? And sexy!! :D
