I continue with my moratorium on posting depressing facts about work, so I throw out a question I've been pondering.  How do you store your SCA garb?  I ask because I now have eight (!) kirtles (boned bodices with heavy skirts), five shifts, three petticoats, two formal gowns, a loose gown, two pairs of puffy pants, two t-tunics, a sideless surcoat ( Read more... )

When The Boy was born, we moved most of the SCA stuff to the master bedroom closet. The SCA stuff is in the same sort of shelving it was in before, for the most part; severus_bracae's hose (and other accessories of similar size) are rolled up in a sort of hanging shoe organizer like this one, medium-sized garments (including his tunics, undergarments, larger headwear bits, etc.) are in a slightly larger organizer (like this one), and other accessories (belts, purses, garters, collars, pins [on a pincushion], etc.) are in a set of plastic drawers (currently on the bathroom counter, but they're meant to go on the shelf in the closet).
Most of severus_bracae's cotes & nicer (better-than-tunics) garb hangs in the closet, on the far side of the organizers. Bigger garments (like the Tacuinum Sanitatis dress, the Tres Riches Heures dress, etc.) and various garb that don't get worn often are stored in Space Bags in a foot locker in the basement. (Or, ideally, that's where they will go; I think some of the stuffed Space Bags are strewn around the rumpus room, waiting to be put away.) If there is a set of things that only get worn together, I try to remember to store them together in the same bag.
The 18th century stuff? Ummm ... I know where my panniers are. kass_rants will be sending me new stays later in the spring. I really ought to get the rest of it organized ... but I have to track it all down, first!
