See, I was in this funk, right? I can't explain it. I was just...well...funky. I was depressed; I was homesick; I couldn't focus; I slept every free minute I had; I didn't want to go out; I didn't want to stay in; I walked around seeing myself as a constant embarrassment to myself. Funk. No better word.

Yesterday, I woke up, and it was gone. No reason, no explanation. Just gone. I went to work and cleaned my desk, finished unfinished projects, sorted the nonsense, did my job did the way it's supposed to be done. I went home and cleaned up the mess that I had allowed to accumulate there. I washed clothes, washed dishes, washed windows, scrubbed the floors. I took out the trash. That's just it. I took out all the trash. All that trash I had collected.

I wish I knew what had happened, before or now. I don't know what induced the funk or what killed the funk. But, it's gone. That's all that matters.

Right now, I am--dare I say it--happy. What an ambiguous, overused word, happy. A worthless word, really, but I can't think of a better one. Content. Satisfied. Ready. I'm ready to get started. You know, with this "life" business.

What's strange is that nothing in particular happened. I always thought that these moments should be preceded by intense situations that instill profound lessons about the nature of existence, or something like that. No. Not for me.

I simply woke up.
