IKEA

Oh IKEA, how you lure me in with your Swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes, and delicious lingonberry sauce, and the next thing I know, I've spent more than two paychecks' worth on home furnishings.

Not even sure what we bought. How did some lighting, carpets, pillows, a storage basket, and a sofa come to that!?!
Answer: The sofa...
But it's a gorgeous black leather sectional, and yeah, what are we thinking--- leather? Really? With a dog and two kids?

(I guess we're the type of parents who try to world-proof our child, not child-proof the world.
I'll write about that in a separate post.)

As usual, I would stand at the pillows section for 10 minutes, looking at all the selections, not making a choice, chat up a few passerbys as we mutually discuss colors and placements, then call Brian over, he takes a look and says "yeah buy it!" and 10 minutes later, I have to wheel the cart back to the pillow section because I changed my mind, and it takes another 10 minutes to pick a different design and Brian immediately says "great! Buy it!" and I say "but do you think the orange will clash? Will the green be better?" and hem for another few minutes. Halfway home at the end of the shopping trip, I say "did we save the receipt? I'm still not sure we picked the right pillow.... I might have to return it."

Erika was so thrilled to go to IKEA, she was dancing and skipping with excitement through the store, checking out the different displays, picking out new designs for her next renovation project. She said being at IKEA on Sunday was more fun than our trip to the Philadelphia Zoo on Saturday. Maybe some day, she'll go into business with her father.
