Why do people feel a sliver of redemption when they abandon their pets in a state park, a zoo, or a national wildlife refuge? Do they think that somehow their homebred animals will hear the call of the wild and suddenly learn to hunt for their food? That somehow, in a protected site that is animal-friendly, they will have a better life than being ( Read more... )

I hate them too. I wish they would get the same treatment the abandoned/abused/negected animals get. I simply cannot express the amount of pure hatred I feel for people like that.

That's how I found my dog. He was dumped on the side of the road. He was just a little puppy too! He had worms, and giardia and was starving. Breaks my heart just thinking about it.
Good for you and good luck finding a home for this sweetie.

You and Dana are angels to that dog. That was a really wonderful thing that you did.

I can't tell you how many times I hear about people getting rid of their dog because they're having a baby. What, so they're having the baby to replace the dog? I even know of a pregnant couple who was planning on putting their healthy one-year-old Golden Retriever to sleep for this exact reason. (Don't worry, the dog is safe - my friend's dad heard about what they were going to do, flipped out, and took in the dog until he could find a new home for it). I just hope that the new baby knows better than to do anything to piss his parents off...

Yeah, I never got why people got rid of the family dog when they start ot have a family. Never made sense to me either. What-- they can't afford to spend time raising a dog and a child..?! The bills to high?! What?

My boyfriend's parents put their dog to sleep because they "couldn't handle" her around the baby. The dog might "knock her over" when she's learning to walk.

Good fucking grief. Hate.
