Snow 4/100

Oct 15, 2009 23:24

Alex really didn’t care how it was conjugated. Nothing was going to get him over the fact that the lovely fall weather that he lived for gave in far too early and was now letting snow plummet to the ground in the middle of October. He hated this, because as much as he loved snow, he only loved it when it was supposed to be around, and October was definitely not snow time. If anything, this depressed him, because it meant no fall strolls with the leaves falling down all around him and stupid getting out of winter jackets early. Ugh. Snow.

Alex kicked at the ground, furious at the little white flakes that were falling from the sky. “Stupid snow,” he grumbled as he ran a hand through his hair. “Ruining everything for me.” He didn’t like this at all, and as he picked up his phone to call someone to force them to come and spend time with him, he huffed. Everyone was probably out enjoying the first snow of the season right now, and if they weren’t, they were most likely at work. Stupid Saturdays and his stupid friends with their stupid jobs.

To say that Alex was annoyed was an understatement. He wanted fall back and he wanted it to be in the low fifties, heading downwards slowly to the cold weather. No…he couldn’t have his way though. The stupid snow had to come around and make it a grand total of thirty-five degrees outside. He couldn’t even sneak outside without his mother screaming at him to bulk up against the cold. Fuck his life.

Alex knew one person who could possibly make this day better, and without bothering to call any of his other friends, he scrolled through his contacts until he got down to ‘Jack,’ instantly hit the send button, calling him before he could change his mind and instead throw his phone against the wall.

The phone rang once, twice, three times before it was picked up, a hurried voice saying “What’s up bitch?” right in Alex’s ear. Alex couldn’t help but smile as he listened to the sounds of Blink-182 blaring in the background. “Why are you calling me, asshole?”

“Because you’re a dick and I hatelove you,” Alex replied with a smile on his face. “Now come over here and amuse me ‘cause I’m bored.”

“Sorry Gaskank, but I’m not free. I come at a price, and you know what price it takes to make me come.” Alex laughed at Jack’s pun and he pressed his fingers into the comforter on his bed.

“Sex, movies and homemade peanut butter cookies coming right up,” Alex replied as he picked at one of the edges of his blanket. “Just get your ass over here before I shoot myself from boredom and anger at this damn snow.”

On the other end of the phone line, he heard Jack stumbling to get off of his bed and turn off the music. “Hey, what’s wrong with snow? Snow’s yummy and cold, the complete opposite of your dick.”

“You ‘d know,” Alex shot back. “You suck it enough to know how it tastes.” He smiled as he looked out at the quietly falling snow. “I don’t mind snow, you know that. It’s just that it’s October, and I want my fall, not winter. The Earth’s trying to skip seasons!”

“Nah. That’s just cause it misses you jacking off five times a day because winter makes you bored and horny.” He grinned. “I’ll be over as soon as I find my car keys, and you know how long that can take.”

“Your mom keeps the spare in her makeup drawer,” Alex told him as he watched a thin layer of white cover the backyard. “Now get over here now.” Without saying goodbye, he hung up on Jack and jumped off of the bed to go and beg his mother to make the peanut butter cookies so that Jack wouldn’t wail on Alex for the lack of his delicious treat.

He had just gotten his mother to agree to making a batch of cookies when the doorbell rang, and Alex scampered over to the door as quickly as possible, resisting the urge to partake in the excitement that was coursing through his veins right now. Shoving the door open, he found Jack standing there with snow completely covering his body.

“The weather’s a bitch just like you,” he commented as he shook his hair out, splattering Alex in little drops of ice cold water before he stepped inside. “The second I get out of my car, it fucking decides to attack me with a snowstorm and now look at it.” He pointed outside with a frown to the completely clear sky and no longer snowing day. “Fucking PMS-ing weather.”

Alex laughed as he shoved Jack completely inside and shut the door behind him. “You’re just jealous that you couldn’t be here before Mother Nature attacked you for your balls.”

“Which are now freezing by the way, thanks for reminding me,” Jack commented as he frowned. “You need to take care of that now too, in addition to all your other promises. Where are my cookies?”

“Mom’s making them right now. They’ll be fresh, hot and waiting for you, just like my impatient dick.” Jack rolled his eyes as he pulled his coat off of his body.

“That thing’s always waiting for me,” Jack said as he shrugged. “I stopped caring about it. Those cookies though, they’re what’s worth waiting for.” Alex shoved him lightly and Jack went to shove Alex back, but he was too quick for Jack and ran up the stairs to his room instead.

Chasing after him, Jack found himself laughing as he stumbled up the staircase. He ran down the hall to Alex’s room and slammed the door behind him, ready to pounce on Alex who was standing at the window, staring out at pure white.

“Shit,” Jack commented as he looked at the revenge of the snowstorm. “The weather really is a bitch.” Alex didn’t say anything about it, and Jack frowned as he came over to Alex, wrapping his arms quietly around the other boy’s waist. “Lex, are you okay?” he asked him quietly as he rested his chin on Alex’s shoulder. “You’re all quiet and shit. Talk.”

Alex gently rested his hands on top of Jack’s as he looked out at the snow. “You know…you know how we always joke about fucking each other and sucking each other’s dicks?” he said quietly and Jack’s grip on his friend tightened.

“Yeah,” he said as he held onto Alex, sensing the seriousness in the boy’s tone. He knew that Alex was going to say something that actually was worth listening to with a mind clear of all joking thoughts, so he cleared them all out and listened to his friend, waiting to see what Alex had to say.

Alex opened his mouth at first, but the words didn’t escape and instead he shut his lips once more, staring at the snow. “I…I’ve been thinking about it for a while now, and I don’t want to just joke about it Jack. I want it to be real. All those times where you say you’re going to kiss me but never do, I don’t want it to be a never. I want you to fucking do it, and I want to feel your lips on mine, where they belong.” A swirl of snow passed across the window and Alex bit down on his lip. “I want to stop dreaming about it all the time. I want it to be real.”

What Alex had said to Jack threw him off. Yeah, he had a slight crush on Alex, but he never, ever thought that Alex would feel the same way. Now, Alex was telling him that he not only felt the same, but he wanted it badly, so badly that he was willing to admit it out loud, voice his desires despite the fact that Jack could completely blow him off, stop being friends with him forever over it.

Jack dropped his hold on Alex, and the boy in front of the window assumed that Jack was going to leave, that he was going to lose his best friend. His thoughts were instantly proven wrong as Jack came around so that he was in front of Alex, smiling quietly. “I’ve been waiting,” he said softly. “There was a reason I started the slew of gay jokes between us Alex. I was waiting to see if you’d pick up on my crush, my like…no, my love for you.” Alex’s eyes lifted up a bit, but they still didn’t dare to meet Jack’s.

“I don’t want you messing with me,” he whispered. “Just…go okay? Go and spread it around that I’m a fag in love with his best friend. Go ahead, I don’t care. Just…don’t mess with me like this.”

Jack reached out and grabbed Alex’s chin, tilting the boy’s head up so that he was looking at him. Alex tried to pull away, but Jack had a firm grip on his chin, and he dropped his eyes.

“Alex,” Jack said quietly. “Alex look at me.” Alex’s eyes focused on the window just over Jack’s shoulder, watching the snow glisten as it fell and Jack sighed. “Look at me, please,” he begged. The desperate tone in his voice got Alex’s attention and he looked at Jack who was gently smiling. “I wouldn’t mess with you about love, Alex. That’s one of the things I would never, ever fuck with someone about.” Alex was silent, his eyes focused on Jack’s face, and that’s when Jack knew he had won. “I love you Alex Gaskarth,” he whispered as he leaned forward, gently capturing the older boy’s lips in a kiss.

Before he knew it, Alex was kissing him back just as tenderly as Jack was originally kissing him, and it was perfect, feelings and all. Alex was finally getting the kiss that he wanted, the one he had been waiting for a little over a year now, and Jack was finally getting the person he had wanted all along, his best friend. It was perfect.

They broke apart with smiles on their faces and Jack’s hand instantly touched Alex’s cheek. “How was it?”

“That made me realize that snow in October, totally worth it,” Alex replied as he found Jack’s free hand and squeezed it gently. “You’re amazing.”

“I know,” Jack said as he grinned. “Hey, speaking of snow…snowball fight in your yard?”

“That depends,” Alex said as he bit his lip. “Will we get to fall down and kiss in the snow afterwards?” Jack’s smile was all he needed to tell him the answer and Alex grinned. “In that case, definitely.”

The two boys grabbed their coats and hats and gloves and whatever else their mothers were always telling them to wear, although half of it would probably be shed off within seconds anyway, and they ran down the stairs to go and play in the snow, scampering right past the peanut butter cookies that Jack had been waiting for.

This time, they were going to have to wait for him.

He had someone more important.
