Sports. Alex blatantly hated sports because they meant teams and Alex and team sports…that was a bad idea. He was the clumsy one in his gym class, the one that always dropped the ball or let the goal in or caused a lost game for everyone. They all despised Alex, and he was usually the last one picked and then always shoved into the corner so that he couldn’t mess up and cause a loss for his team. He hated how competitive the boys in his school got over gym sports. It wasn’t like they meant anything.
“Okay, we’re going to play ultimate Frisbee today,” their gym instructor, Mr. Hanz, said as he threw a bag containing dozens of multicolored Frisbees to the ground. “Captains are Barakat and Turman, now pick teams and do it fast! Turman, you’re first.” Alex moved to the back of the group of boys, toeing the ground with the tip of his old converse that was close to falling apart. He knew it was going to be a while until he got picked, possibly even just shoved into the group that was the very last to pick, so he let himself get distracted with the wooden patterns on the gym floor.
He was so distracted that he hadn’t heard his name being called first for the only time in his gym life nor did he realize that he was supposed to move until he got a rough shove from Gabe, one of the few people that actually didn’t treat him like the failure he was. “Chico, go,” he said as he pointed over to where Caleb was standing, his smile shining quietly while he received a lot of confused and annoyed looks from the rest of the guys in his gym class. Alex was never, ever called first and they all knew why, so the fact that Caleb was picking him first was shocking, to say the least.
Slowly, he stopped toeing the ground, but he didn’t move from his spot, not really sure what to say. Another rough shove from Gabe put him in his place and Alex stumbled over to Caleb in silence, nodding a little as he stepped behind the boy, noticing the way Caleb’s smile was gone the second Jack took over the picking. Alex nervously stood behind Caleb, listening to the complaints of having to be on a team with the “Gaskank” as they so fondly called him. Alex sighed, knowing that the second the game started, he’d be in the corner, hiding from the game as per usual.
Groups were settled and the teacher explained the rules so the game could start as quickly as possible. The group broke to their respective sides of the gym and Alex backed into the corner, watching the game but staying far away from participating. He knew before the game had even started that it wouldd be a bad idea if he began to play, so he watched, his eyes scanning across the gym, sometimes stopping on a boy or two that he thought was very attractive.
Alex wasn’t going to lie, he found boys to be fucking amazing. Every single quality about them made him hot in a way that shouldn’t, and he knew that it was probably one of the reasons that he was picked on so much both in gym class and in the general school day. He didn’t have many guy friends, well…he didn’t have any guy friends, but that wasn’t a big deal to Alex. He liked the friends that he had, and he was completely okay with listening to their girl problems and helping them out as best as he could. Hell, he had even been able to make relationships work with his friends and their boyfriends despite the fact that he had never even kissed anyone, let alone been in a relationship.
He snapped out of his thoughts the second he saw a multicolored thing coming his way, and his hands instantly went up to his face to block the thing from hitting him. Surprisingly, his fingers closed around the plastic and shocked sounds came from his fellow teammates as well as their enemies. Alex Gaskarth had caught the Frisbee.
In his surprise, Alex almost dropped the plastic disk, but he managed to keep it from slipping from his fingers as he looked for someone close enough to toss it to without failing. The closest person to him was Caleb, who was smiling quietly as he waved his hands, signaling to Alex to throw it to him. Alex did, and with a shaky hand, he threw a wobbling Frisbee to Caleb, who caught it a split second before the enemy tried to block him. The game moved on, and people forgot about Alex as he disappeared back into his corner, glad that he was able to do at least one thing for the entirety of his gym class.
The bell rang and their teacher shoved them out to the changing room before they could be late for class. Alex disappeared to the back of the locker room, the area where no one else was, and he changed slowly, thinking about that catch that he had made in gym today with satisfaction clearly showing on his face. The space case was snapped out of his thoughts as footsteps approached him, and a shirtless Alex looked up to find Caleb standing there. He bit his lip, a little embarrassed by his current situation, even though he didn’t really show it.
“Hey,” he said quietly as he looked at Caleb with a quiet smile on his face. “Thanks for today. You didn’t have to pick me first, but you did, so thank you. I really app-“
He was cut off as Caleb stepped forward and pushed Alex against the row of lockers, causing the boy’s bare back hit the cold metal as he instantly captured the boy in an intense and surprisingly passionate kiss. Alex was stuck in a moment of shock, but quickly enough, he found himself kissing back, his arms slipping around Caleb’s neck as Caleb’s hands began to explore Alex’s bare chest. He found a nipple and squeezed it, causing Alex to let out a gasp in Caleb’s mouth, giving the younger boy just enough time to sneak his tongue into Alex’s, intensifying the kiss instantly as his tongue traced every single tooth that it had now gained access to.
Alex pushed Caleb away after a few seconds and he swallowed, instantly trying to hide his heated face. “What was that for?” he asked as he stared at Caleb. “Look, I don’t appreciate just being jumped and kissed. You took my first. Bitch.” Alex lifted his hand to kind of smack/punch Caleb, but Caleb caught him by the wrist and smiled.
“You know you wanted it Gayskarth. I see the way your eyes have settled on me in class. You’re not invisible to me.” Alex opened his mouth to retort, but before he could, Caleb’s lips were back on him, pulling him back into that kiss that Alex had so rudely interrupted before. The boy debated pushing him away again, but Caleb’s hands found the small of his back and had pushed Alex up against him, clearly showing him just how much he was wanted to the ginger haired boy. That was enough for Alex, and as the late bell rang, he wrapped his arms back around Caleb’s neck, kissing back intensely.
Thank god for gym, he thought, and thank fucking god for teammates.
