Update on Santi's incident II

May 03, 2007 18:40

The WPC in charge of Santi's incident came round yesterday evening. She told me that she had been round to the kid's house and talked to him and his parents. The kid admitted doing it, his reason being that he thought Santi had had an argument with his brother at school (a case of mistaken identity anyway). As it seems to be a one-off thing, I signed a statement saying that I am OK with the police actions to that point and that I don't want it to proceed any further and am not looking for an arrest or further interrogation of the kid. That is fine with me.

Now, what amazes me is that, according to PC Rose, that kid's mum was "in the vicinity" when the incident took place; apparently she saw her son pushing mine off the bike but not what happened later (selective eyesight I call it). Anyway, if I saw my kid pushing somebody else off a bike, I would run to see what was happening. It has been established that Santi received three punches on the head and about seven kicks to his legs and groin, didn't she have enough time to get there? Honestly, I'd rather keep believing that she wasn't there than think she could have been around and do nothing.
