I have very specific songs that I prefer to listen to while working on my Underland inspired fics. Most of them pertain either to a specific character or the interaction between certain characters. Here's a few examples.
I'm a hard rock chick at heart, I listen to bits of everything. Here are some songs I've written to recently for AiW fics, mostly my current WIP over on ff.net, Possible Side Effects.
"What a Shame" Shinedown
The lyrics to this song aren't what really gets me, it's the opening notes. They're beautiful, yet haunting. Perfect for dream sequences.
(Iracebeth/Stayne) "Dirty Work" Halestorm
Get on your knees and let the games begin Bow to your Queen and I will crown your head 'Cause I can make you every inch a king Before I do tell me, what's in it for me?
I need someone young, willing and able You need someone old enough to know better I want you to
Do my dirty work Do my dirty work (x3)
Let me be your labor of love My royal garden needs a hired man Plant your seed, darlin' My roses are in your hands"
OMG I KNEW I WASNT THE ONLY ONE WHO THOUGHT THAT ABOUT "ACCORDING TO YOU!!!!" Also: Alice and Tarrant, once she's returned to London: "Untouched" by the Veronicas.
I've always loved 'If You Go Away' by Emiliana Torrini.. I think it fits Tarrant's feelings about Alice leaving Underland really well. A little angst never hurt anyone
( ... )
The Tarrant in my head just loves Metallica for some reason. I can't listen to it too often, because I just end up getting lost in the music and not typing.
Does your headbanging Tarrant keep or lose the hat? Cuz mine tosses it angrily and then goes full thrash, air-guitaring for a bit, and even throws in some Angus Young leg kicks.
Alright, just have to add this, too, and then I'll stop!
Has anyone else seen The Dead Weather's "Die by the Drop" video? Holy Crap, is it Wonderland-licious. Jack White's wearing a vest that is card-like, and a hat; the backgrounds and furniture...omg. Just wondering if anyone else thought the same thing when watching it? The full video is free on iTunes right now but here's the trailer...
