I'm terrible at this updating malarky. =(
Well, as some may know from fb and twitter, I've been ill with pleurisy last week which has exacerbated my asthma. Sooo... I was off work from Tuesday last week (mostly due to being too vulnerable to swine flu to be allowed on the wards!) and went home to my parents' for a few days, came back on Sunday ready to attempt work yesteday but due to not being able to breathe didn't make it and went to see the asthma nurse instead who gave me steroids and a sick note for the rest of the week. I've taken two doses of the steroids and actually feel much better already, and probably should have been given them by the doctor last week, rather than the huge dose of antibiotics which served no purpose other than to give me a disgusting fungal infection on my tongue. YUCK YUCK YUCK!
Anyway, pleurisy is a strange illness, very Victorian! It's not actually an illness as such, but a symptom of something else, usually a chest infection (hence the rediculous antibiotics). It's an inflammation of the pleura, the membrane between the ribs and lungs made of two layers. When it becomes inflamed the layers rub against each other every time you breathe making it hurt ALOT. It's like huge stabbing pains. =S
Part of the reason I'm probably no better is also because I did too much last week. I get SO bored when I'm ill, so I went out for a cup of tea and a slice of cake with my sister and Amy for a couple of hours on Thursday and then woke up on Friday feeling like I was dying. =S My sister and Amy got on alarmingly well, although I was sort of expecting this as they are spookily alike in their mannerisms. =)
Saturday night I also went to Fanclub with Clare and some of her friends from uni, and Jenny. It was fun and I'm glad I went (if only to stop me killing a family member) but again, probably not the greatest idea when ill. =S Although I didn't really drink much which was good for me. =D
Ooh! Me and Fi are going on hooooliday! Twice hopefully! We've (well, Fiona has) found a cheapy cheap spa break near Barnsley so we're going there in September, and then to gay Paris in October with her sister and neighbours! Je suis tres excited!
I'm undecided as to whether or not to go home today or not. I know I'm going to need to move soon to miss rush hour traffic if I'm going. On the one hand I am BORED! On the other, I love my family dearly but they do do my head in after a few days. I'm meant to be out in Sheffield on Saturday night with Becca (which I am going to whether I feel better or not as I have a bad shoulder and need some free physiotherapy!) so it would only be a couple of days. And it would be nice to be looked after. Hmm....
Anyway, I shall love you and leave you with these musings. Ta-ra.
