Power toys

The remote control to a television is nothing but a power toy. Whoever has it in their hand has control of the television and what channels you're to watch.

Imagine sitting on the couch with a friend of yours, just relaxing and watching tv. The show you're watching is some boring ass old show that your friend somehow deems interesting. You keep looking at your friend out of the corner of your eye, pretending to watch the boring show. Your heart skips a beat every time you see them move so much as an inch. You're just aching to get your hands on that damn remote! You HATE the show on tv right now. Hell, the show's not even ON, you're watching a beer commercial. Your friend nonchalantly flips back and forth between a couple stations, watching what's on. As your friend flips through more boring shows, you can't help but feel powerless over your own television. Now tell me, since WHEN do YOU, the owner of said television, let your friend throw a coup and take command of the tv?!

Your friend finally, FINALLY, gets up to take a bathroom break. As soon as they're out of sight, you snatch the remote away from their side of the couch. YES!!! VICTORY IS YOURS!!! YOU'VE TAKEN BACK YOUR TELEVISION!!! You slyly hide the remote between a pillow you're leaning on and the couch, but not before changing it to a channel YOU want to watch. After all, this IS your tv.

Your friend wanders back over to the couch after an extensively long trip to the bathroom. They look around as if they've lost... something. Could it be the REMOTE CONTROL? You silently chuckle in amusement as you watch your friend turn around in circles wondering where it went.

"What's wrong?" you ask.

"I can't find the remote control," your friend replies.

"Oh."

You turn your head the opposite way and let a spiteful grin escape.

"Guess we're gonna have to watch this show then. I've been wanting to see it anyway," you say.

Amazing what one simple remote control can do to a person eh?
