Just say no

So, guys, I saw this really informative pro-Prop 8 commercial the other day. Do you know, that if Prop 8 doesn't pass schools will have to teach kids that it's okay to be gay or lesbian? Not only that, but parents will have to love and support their children, so matter their sexual orientation? The horror. The HORROR ( Read more... )

It's a lie, btw, what they're saying about the schools. A boldface lie. They're using that to get at their idiot constituency, and it's working. Not that the little girl in that commercial isn't totally cute and that what she "learned in school" isn't totally harmless and adorable, but the fearmongering they're trying to stir up doesn't even have any truth behind it. The Nos are putting out ads soon to point out all the lying that the root of all evil Yes has done.

Also, check your brother's status -- if you turn 18 in the election year, I think you MIGHT be able to still vote even if you aren't 18 by the actual election. Check on that, seriously. It could be one more vote. <3 And have him tell all his friends who might be in the same boat and/or already 18. The young voting block has so much potential if we can actually drag them to the polls; they could theoretically control the elections if all of them voted.

Thanks for pimping this!

The fact that they're lying doesn't surprise me. There are so many "facts" mentioned in pro-8 commercials that are blatantly untrue, and it would make me laugh if it weren't doing such a good job of terrifying unintelligent people. Oh propoganda, how I love you so.

Unfortunately I don't think my brother will be able to vote even if that's the case-- he turns 18 in August, so he'll still be 17 next month. I'll definitely look into, though, and if he's able to vote that'll be one more big beautiful No. I'll tell him today to spread the word to his friends, too.

Sorry, I think that sort of sounded like I missed your point. What I meant to say is, he won't turn 18 at all this year.
