So we got back from seeing TOOL last night. What an amazing show. Contrary to what the tickets said there was no opening band, so we missed the first 30 seconds while obtaining water to sneak in. They only played about ten songs but they were all well over ten minutes each. Rather than the usual singer-in-the-front setup Maynard was on a platform in the back next to the drummer. He was standing in front of one of four vertical projection screens so you only really see him as a silhouette. I don't if anyone else is a fan so I won't give a minutebyminute recount, but they were spot on. It was the best show I've seen in years.

Also I just finished reading Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz and Frank Miller's the Dark Knight Returns. Both excellent reads. I've been immersed in Hp Lovecraft and Mark Twain for a while, Dean Koontz reads super fast by comparison. Odd Thomas is sort of the story of what would happen if the kid from the sixth sense was twenty and living in Pico Mundo, Arizona.
The Dark Knight was really neat as well. He mentions a conspiracy theory that Roosevelt knew about Pearl Harbor in advance and allowed it to happen to steel US resolve to enter WWII. Similar theories obviously exist about 911 so its bizarre to think that not only is something like that possible, but it's old hat.

Also for some reason LJ is trying to convince me that I'm typing this on Septemer 20.
