Try as you might, you can't fathom why the people won't wake up. Random strangers, people you know, perhaps a player that had joined your party at some time; all of them in a deep sleep. No matter what happens around them, they just continue to sleep. Then again, such a deep sleep couldn't be normal...

what a horrible tag this is... /facepalm enduringwinter December 6 2010, 20:51:13 UTC
Richter walked through town looking more than a little annoyed. People - no, not just any individual, those like him who were not from this World - were falling unconscious left and right. He held his Relic in his hand, making sure to keep an eye on the forums to see if there was anyone else that had any idea what was happening. If not, then at least he could try to use it to keep track of who was awake and who had fallen.

"There must be some reason behind this..."

Though he was from a world that was wrought with magic and mystical creatures, Richter knew - perhaps better than most people - that there was always a logical reason behind what happened. The half-elf reached up to rub his temple irritably; he was getting nowhere with this (how he missed the library at Sybak now).

Asking around may be the only course of action left to him. He knew of no library here in Mac Anu and Richter doubted he'd come across and epiphany out in the fields. Time to bite back his cold personality for a second to try and find some answers.

Cloud scowled as he stalked towards the outskirts of the town. It was quiet. Too quiet. While he normally LIKED peace and quiet, this was just creepy now. Of course there were the NPCs, but Cloud had quickly figured out they weren't too helpful.

He kicked a random rock on the ground as he thought about what to do next. May be he should move on to the next place to see if there were any clues on what's going on?

There was something about players that set them apart from NPCs. Perhaps it had to do with how they moved or acted; the NPCs were borderline uncanny at times. Richter didn't pick up on the fact that another player was uncomfortably wandering the town until he walked straight past...

It took a couple of seconds before the red head turned around to call out to the blonde.

"You. You got out of this unscathed?" Whatever this was, at least.

Eh...not that much? not_puppet December 13 2010, 14:20:51 UTC
Having not been in The World long, Cloud still had trouble differentiating between players and NPCS. So he didn't really notice Richter either the other called out to him. Even then, it took him a moment to register the words he was hearing.

"You're not an NPC..." Cloud eyed Richter suspiciously, but finally replied after a moment. "If you mean I'm not asleep, then yes."

The deadpan look on his face at Cloud's first statement spoke volumes about what the redhead was thinking at this moment. But there were more pressing matters at hand; he could grump contemplate the mental abilities of the other people trapped here another day.

"Hm..." he stopped for a second before muttering, "are the victims random then?"

Because it was certainly starting to feel that way.

"There are probably others like us who are still awake and wandering around. While I'm not usually one to suggest something like this, pooling our resources might be the only way to figure out how to cure this." The problem was just getting in contact with everyone. If this place was like Sybak then the chances of people actually paying attention to notifications over the forum was about as random as the selection of victims... What a pain.

"Will you help?"

"Probably." Cloud grumbled back. He hadn't been in The World long but he didn't spot any similarities between victims. And Richter was the first awake person he'd met since walking into town so he couldn't do any other comparisons.

He frowned as he quickly thought over the other's suggestion. He was also not someone who would work so readily with a stranger, but no doubt the other had more experience. "Yeah I will. Best thing to do in this case."

Richter didn't like to work alongside others either, but this was something that he couldn't figure out on his own. Not when this world was still so foreign to him. If they were back in Aselia- Well, if this were Aselia, he wouldn't be here to begin with. Such was fate.

At least with a few more eyes and ears out, they might be able to reach a conclusion faster. So when Cloud agreed to help, Richter could only give the other a curt nod.

"Best of luck then. It looks like we might need it."

It's okay, and I'm back now~ And yes I did! not_puppet December 23 2010, 16:25:42 UTC
"Yeah." Cloud replied, shifting his foot against the dirt on the ground. He thought quickly about what he'd seen in town. Perhaps they could get a better idea of what's going on if they compared notes.

"I guess you saw what I saw in town. People just dropping off suddenly. Did you notice anything out of place before?"

"..." Anything out of place? Either this person hadn't been around all that long or they missed the commotion regarding that wall. Not that Richter could say much, having only been in The World for a couple of months. He had bite back the familiar feeling of wanting someone to act as a sounding board for his theories.

"One of the buildings in the Harbor District seemed to have been experience a dimensional rift." He turned to point in the direction of the harbor. "That's about as much as I know at this time."
