How many pathways do we have that do not end in destruction? We weave dreams out of our fragile shadows, and weave ourselves out of the shadows of our dreams. Craving the dawn that will erase us. The piercing light dances around us, and we carve a space for ourselves in the places it cannot reach. Is the shape of a shadow defined by the body that casts it, or the light that surrounds it? We define good in terms of evil, evil in terms of good, truth in terms of fiction, fiction in terms of truth, others in terms of ourselves, ourselves in terms of others. Losing our forms in a universe of one. Everything is a construct of the mind - the fickle, fallible mind, so easily tricked by simple illusions. We only see what we want to see. We only see what others want us to see. We carve a world out of desire and hold it as the absolute truth - desire is the only truth. Desire, self, dream, shadows of one another that rapidly converge into an inescapable death. Hopes are just wants dressed in glory and grandeur. Despair is an inevitability.

It's only natural that the greatest desire of a being doomed to destruction is life.
