Last Thursday I was disconnected from the device to measure glucose levels in my belly. I felt very relieved. The nurse (who specialises in diabetes) and I discussed the resulting graphs of glucose levels.
It turned out that
- My device for measuring blood glucose levels is unreliable/faulty. I got a replacement last Saturday. Even with a unreliable device I managed quite ok.
- My blood sugar level always drops at around 16:00/18:00. I knew that, but now it has been confirmed.
- I have difficulty handling Italian food for dinner. I knew that, that is why I ate out on Wednesday evening on purpose to see how it would show up in the measurements. I started eating at 19:00 and I saw an increase in my blood sugar level in the second half of the night (from 01:30 till about 6:00). I had taken a large amount of insulin, but that clearly did not work. I intend to discuss this situation with my medical specialist this August.
All in all I was feeling good about this.
