THE DAILY REPORT

Technical Stuff

Okay, so... the fan on my netbook is working again, for the first time since I started using it this trip. I have less than a day's worth of observation on how that impacts its performance, but so far, so good. If the overheating was the source of the other problems then I may have extended the working life of my laptop by quite a bit. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Schedule Stuff

So, the big thing that needs re-working from last month's schedule is the OT stuff... the three Other Tales and the one Kin & Distant Relations story. Having them on the 7s of the month made things nice and predictable, but the way that syncs up with the main story schedule (or rather, the way it doesn't) led to some things that were really inconvenient from a production standpoint.

The new schedule's going to be every 8 days, starting on the 6th of the month. Why? Because that means I'll always be putting up an Other Tale in the middle of an update cycle for the main story. It should work out much more conveniently. That's the 6th, the 14th, the 22nd, and the 30th. I'm giving myself some slack to experiment with this... the 14th is the second update on the current schedule anyway, so I'm actually going to make the shift then. That also gives me some time to try to spot any unintended bottlenecks this will cause.

STATE OF THE ME

Woke up this morning feeling really beat. No particular reason why.

DREAMS FROM LAST NIGHT

A war broke out on American soil, and I was sent to hold a playground, using scraps of cardboard, couch cushions, and blankets to turn old-style metal jungle gyms into entrenched and fortified positions. I was an adult in the dream, surrounded by soldiers who were acting on my orders... I never actually saw any fighting but the impression I have now that I'm awake and looking back on it was that a real war was being fought using the methods and materials of childhood.

PLANS FOR TODAY

Today's a day for beginnings. I have a Tales of MU chapter to start, and I'm going to get a start on the newsletter. Depending on how that goes, I might also get a start on the first OT of the month.
