Summer still

News items I felt like sharing:

  • Jack turns 5 Wednesday. Ok, point A is a big OMGWTF? Time flies, man, it flies. He'll be a JCPS kid as of next month. Point B= his birthday parties were this weekend. Insane amounts of fun. He might be quick to pitch a fit sometimes, but man, I like this kid.

My sister baked a cake and we attempted to turn it into an orca (he liked Sea World enough to want a sea life party), which was a bit daunting, but between us and my mom, we made it happen. Jack thought it was amazing. He proclaimedthat the party decorations were "wicked." THAT'S my nephew. He got tons of stuff, as expected. I got him one of those plug-and-play video games. You should see him with it. He's amazing...

    Jack: *turns it on*
Me: Let's read the intructions so you know what buttons to push.
Jack: *starts playing and beats a guy up*
    Me: Nevermind!

I don't think it's stupid to teach him to play video games. It'll make him friends later and I should know. He's already mastered online kids games and Nintendogs (despite not being able to read yet) and my Jackie Chan Adventures GBA game. I think this Spider-man thing is a nice introduction to console games and side-scrollers (think: 6th birthday=gameboy) I also got him a Danny Phantom puzzle. After vacation, Danny is our collective new favorite thing.

  • Divorce is insane. This whole mess is making it really hard to resist saying "Aren't you glad I'm asexual now, Mom?" I'm still holding out because it would be really mean, but, man, I totally want to say it.

  • Still haven't done summer reading. I'm pulling a Roy here. Speaking of which, I feel vaguely like I'm wasting my life lurking in the FMA fandom...but it's so much fun.

  • I love this line. Anybody have the audio from that episode handy? "Sure, Ed, how can I forget. I saw you in her house, unconscious, with that same stump of an arm you have now; bawling in your sleep, 'It hurts! I'm going to pee my pants!' So tough." -Roy ...I'm going to go watch that again and laugh.

  • I need a program that can take screencaps of movies. This is hopeless. MacTheRipper is nice anyway.
  • birthdays, drama, summer, family, school, fma
