So. Finally. The benefit dinner is over! I can breathe easy now. The pressure of a once-a-year which is supposed to bring in a large chunk of future funding is heavy. I somehow had this idea in my head that if the dinner doesn't net enough, we won't be able to afford much next year. But then I remember that I've secured advertising in the journal and increased our subscription base. Also, we're offering more in-depth and professional conferences, so we can charge a little more for entry. Overall, it's God's program, His annual dinner, His conferences, & His money!

That makes things much simpler.

Everything last week was leading up to the benefit dinner, and of course I stayed late Wednesday night. Paul helped with a few graphical items--labels for the cider bottles & tables #s. The next morning Kristen helped me print out a bunch of things & assemble the name badges. Alyssa came in with the finalfinal slideshow for Dr. M, and it was awesome! Then she helped me glue our promotional images onto black foamcore-ta da! Instant gallery! Then I ran around like crazy trying to finish getting everything ready and loaded into the car. I did remember to eat lunch, which is good.

I left campus at 1:30 to bring the florist more materials from campus (grounds crew thinks I'm insane now), then went to Bishops salon to take a break and get my hair done. Then I went over to the ballroom to see how setup was coming. It was coming slowly, mainly because the ballroom staff were trying to set up the tables at the same time that my production manager and his crew were trying to set up the stage and lights and sound. Not exactly the most productive way to get it all done. But it worked out. Guests started arriving earlier than I expected, but the ballroom crew just brought out the hors d'oeuvres and the musicians started playing.

All on all, people were delighted with the ballroom, food, music, speakers (who were all AMAZING)...in short, the evening was a success. We did, admittedly, run quite a bit late, but people seemed to enjoy it all.

Friday was hectic as well. Everyone kept asking me how great it felt to be done...but the craziness wasn't done! Journal editors' meeting first thing in the morning, followed by contributions processing, then preparations for the Advisory Council meeting, then donations wrap-up, then FINALLY I got to go home. I have no idea how many hours I worked last week, but it was too many.

Paul & I went hiking on Sat, then went church hunting Sun. Last night was super relaxing. *le sigh*

Off to work.
