This Wild World We Live In

Its been a while since I last updated, because while I do log in and check my friends page every day I almost never think to actually write an update myself. It also doesn't help that I am busy almost all day every day with school and work and when I'm not I'm trying to relax to the fullest, and that doesn't usually include writing. It may in the future though as I've been having the strange urge to put pen to paper even if I don't know what to write about.

The semester is starting off nicely so far. Six classes and on average 30 hours of work a week hasn't killed me yet, so I guess that is a good sign. As for how much I enjoy it all...Philosophy is ok. Yes I've not passed it twice already so that leads to me being pretty bored, and yes the professor tends to talk down to people because apparently students don't know how to think, but aside from that it should be an easy class and my classmates look like they have interesting opinions that make class discussions interesting. Islam, while not a class that I was too excited about over the summer, is of course very interesting, in part because Chris Lee is the professor and in part because Religion is always a hell of an interesting topic. I do admit that I am getting kind of sick of Abrahamic religions, and Western Religious Traditions is all about that. Still, The professor is a very interesting, the small class makes it conducive to group discussions, and as I said before I always find religions to be intriguing (except for 'pagans' and 'non-denominational' christians. they just make shit up off the top of their heads and claim it has historical backing) Continuing with religion since some may say I have a problem, I'm also taking Native American Religions which I know I will enjoy because its a New World outlook and I again enjoy the professor. For my last religion class I have Theology of Death which in my mind isn't exactly a religion class so much as a cultural class. The last class that I'm taking is Afro-Centric Music. Music is one of my greatest passions, at least of the last 4 years or so, and since it is strongly linked to the religio-cultural aspect of African and African Diaspora culture it is a welcomed addition to my academic career. It would have been nice if I had known of this class a few semesters back with I was taking African Tribal Religions(with the same professor who teaches Native American Religions this).

Work has been going well. The library is the breeze it has always been and the movie theater is, well, a movie theater. It can't get much simpler than that. I have great co-workers, get to watch free movies (if I ever have a free evening) and get to talk with very interesting people.

In more introspective news, my Muse, or at least a Muse, has sparked some interest in my in the last day or so. It started with my handwriting, in which I've been trying to create a more beautiful writing style. I've also been thinking deeper thoughts in the past few days than I have in at least 2 years so I'm kind of running with it. Be on the lookout for me to post things here, though I may just write it down by hand since the pen is more elegant than the keyboard.

writing, work, class, religion, art., muse, poetry
