End of an era

Although we've expected it for a while, a formal announcement was just made that the company cafeteria is closing on the 27th. The building is being torn down to make a new parking lot. There will be no more $2 all-you-can-eat lunches. More importantly, there will no longer be a place for us all to eat lunch together. Katie's Kitchen, as it was ( Read more... )

You'd think that a company that runs resturants would have something better for their employee's than the option of microwaves and vending machines. It's part of corporate culture that is slowing dieing off when the benefit is so needed. *sigh*

Well, the memo made some vague references to other options being investigated, but the general consensus is that vending machines and microwaves will be all that is ever done.

Don't get me wrong. I'm a lifelong fan of the PB&J. But it's a bit of a step back from $2 steaks, or $2 coconut shrimp, or $2 breakfast-for-lunch (my favorite!).
